i have been told by several cops that you aren't allowed to. all this while they scan my bay for a turbo...

Havent u learnt by now that if u want some information that has any relevance that cops especially traffic cops really dont know shit about cars.

Also i dont think vicroads would have every know car a P plater couldnt drive listed in their books.

- R33GTSt is illegal on your P's. that means if the cop has half a brain then you can be fined and lose your liscence on the spot for a period of time longer than one month (not sure how long it is)

This is not true... i have asked several cops and they also say it is legal to drive them' date=' And also Vic roads has a list of cars that p Platers cant drive and it does not appear on that list.

the rules for driving ANY car whilst on a probationary lisence state that a driver on probation must adhere to a number of rules

one of these rules is that they do not drive a 'high powered vehilce'

the definition of 'high powered vehicle' states that factory flywheel power and tare weight values remain under 3.5 litres per tonne or 125kW per tonne

the R33GTSt exceeds the 125kW per tonne rule and therefore renders it illegal to drive on your probationary lisence.

the list that cops have is a 'quick reference guide' so they can drive past a car and do a quick check of whether or not they are driving it illegally. obviously if they were to put all cars on then it would be a bloody long list

cops know the rules and can be pricks if they want

i couldn't agree more, just sharing my experience as if a cop thinks one thing, they will push it and prolly fine you for it if they believe it to be true.

Hey man ive been driving the Skyline for more than a year already and i know that i have to treat the car wif respect, cuz wif 230Kw@wheelz u gotta b careful, by the way i am not a spastic driver. Its not the power of the car its the driver.

Mate I don't doubt your a sensible driver but that don't mean sh|t out on the road unfortunatly. You've only gotta have a mate in the car pushing you or give it a little to much in the wet, ESPECIALLY in a R33 as it has no traction controll and it's all over and trust me I learnt the hard way. It's not so much your driving skills or how you drive it's the unexpected thats the killer. You say it's not the power of the car but thats like putting candy in front of a kid a saying "don't eat it" :)

have u already picked out the lightpole u r gonna hit?

hahaha soooo true...

Can't imagine driving anything on my P's but my rusted out shitter I got when I was 18. Still managed to drive it sideways around every corner in the wet, smack a few gutters and of course drive it straight into a tree... damn old school Benz's... UNDERSTEEEEER...

270kw... you must have very understanding parents...

sorry just read this... famous last words...Its not your driving skill were worried about...

WOW! Thanks Heaps guys for all the advice, i thin wha im going to do is save up a bit of cash, then sell the ole R31 and then get the R33GTS-T..

By that time (in say 5-6) months ill only have 5 months to go on my P's and it wont cost me as much.

Incidently, is there much of a power difference in the GTS compared to the GTS-T? Because i did think about getting the non turbo car as i can get one for 12,000

Thanks again for all the imput. Chances are ill buy whatever i get off this site and then ...ill meet u at the lights :)

wise words man. Yea guess it is. I know how it is in da wet lol. gave it a little 2 much out of a round about and the back went out to the side.

you dont know how it is in the wet at all.

Even in the dry.

trust me... it takes a few good years of driving the car on its limits to even get half an idea of where they stand.

Even i get into a pickle at times, and i'll freely admit that and i've been hanging my cars ass out around corners for a few years now.

Just ask dj_lethal, he's seen me in the wet... and thats with a few years up my sleeve, but all it takes is a millisecond to stuff up a dorifto.

yer, there is a fair bit of difference, not so much in outright power as such, but delivery too.

Still, if you sensible, buy a stocker 33-t in a few months when you got moe money.

Then learn to drive it as it is, then slowly modify it.

best thing you can do

there's no difference between a GTS and a GTSt... i tell myself this everyday as I get in the car :(

but yeah in a few months the GTS shall be owning some GTSts :) :) *hides the new engine*
