I noticed my roof has a small chip awhile ago, didn't pay too much attention to it and only recently I realised it started to rust.... It's probably around 3-5mm wide.

I really don't wanna be respraying the roof... Is there anything I can do to stop the rust from spreading without respraying it?

Thanks!

Hey Charles, whatever you do DON'T leave it like that for too long! I left the one on my bootlid and now all the clear has peeled and it looks like shit! :(

Is it true that if you use rust neutraliser or converter, the spot will turn brown?....

Is it something that I can get away with just touch up paint?.... Or is it gonna look hidious after converting it?

Also, some rust is actually under a little bit of the paint...

Can someone give me a rough walkthrough of how or what to do pleaseeeee haha

Yeah it turns brown or black. Try to touch it up you won't do any more damage. Just build it up over a week or so. Tape up the area and give it a sand with some 1000 and then 2000 grit. Then cut polish and waxed it. See how you go. Worst case you stuff it totally and get fixed by a panel beater. Won't cost you anymore. Not a hard job just takes time and patients. See if you can get some etch primer for the first coat. Cheers

yeah but you will need a spray gun for etch primer and you only use etch primer when the whole panel is stripped back to bare metal.its not for small repairs. you only need normal 2k primer.

Hmm... Honestly, I don't really care about how it will turn out lol, because my car has so many minor faults on all the panels of the car, it's due for a respray anyway.. But not now.

Guess I'll just sand back a little bit of the paint so I can remove all the rust or kill it, prime it, and spray it, then clear it, while all taped up.

Another thing I noticed with my car is, on the bonnet.. It seems like stone chips are causing my clear to bubble and eventually peel... So my question, why does stone chip causes my clear to bubble?

Gonna quick fix that with a bit of sanding and reclearing over the weekend..

Lol yeah my whole car needs a respray but it has white stickers holding the paint on! Nobody really notices but they have been there for about 3 years

Haha yeah, I'm just waiting for someone to cover the cost of my respray lol :P

I figure as long as mine will be seeing track days, texi, hill climbs and daily use it just has to look good from a distance :D

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
