I've heard sometimes the wastegate flapper on the housing sometimes need machining for higher boost.

Actually, the higher the boost you run, the less the wastegate needs to flow, generally. I would get the external gate, but it depends on what the police are like up your way.

I run the same turbo on e85 putting 350kw to the wheels through an awd auto. ;)

To give this a bit of a nudge - here's a comparison of a car running a Precision PT6766 versus one running a FP Super99 HTZ on an EVO running 47psi, probably about 300-400rpm difference in lag and near 100whp more on the same boost level! The Super99 is NOT on full attack mode here, by the way - at this boost area the tuner/owner are happier doing the rest of the tuning on the track as you are probably on bought time with everything when pushing that hard.

Has run 8.8 @ 168mph so far with this turbo on a cold track with big traction issues, will be interesting to see how it goes next season with more seat time etc.

I believe Mick_O is waiting on an order from FP direct, and it has been a long while.

Perhaps the kung fu king ordered the turbo under a different name? (Bruce Lee? Just being cheeky, not teasing you) Or maybe there is an honest mistake between either side of the process.

Call him up and ask for proof it was ordered. That's not unreasonable. However others are DEFINITELY experiencing delays, DIRECT from FP. So their claim of 'ship within a week' is currently bollocks.

Not to say Mr Chan didn't first give you the wrong turbo, but I highly doubt he would be trying to commit any sort of crime and rob you. I, like MANY others, bought from CJ Motor before, they were fine.

Lastly, you should be thankful you didn't contribute to the thread you mentioned.. That guy was embarrassing himself like a white dude screaming "I HAVE RIGHTS", rightfully addressed in the first 2 replies. I would consider it embarrassing to side with that sort of argument.

So, call CJ and ask for proof they ordered your replacement, and don't be that high society white guy screaming for his rights. I'm pretty sure your request will be met with a reasonable response.

I have given him the benefit of the doubt. I asked him on the phone and emailed him three times to ask for proof of purchase from Forced Performance and to fwd me. He has not done this and won't even reply to me. His 4 weeks has now turned into nearly 4 months.

I also forgot to mention Mike, the manager of Forced Performance says the turbo is a HTA88 - they havent sold them or made them for two years now. My box was not sealed when I got it from Jacky Chan.

I hope you finally get some resolution soon :(

4 months is a long time! You should have mentioned that in the original message :)

I am sure it will be resolved for you, though. Just pursue the available avenues through fair trading/consumer affairs and play by the book. The system will be in your favour.

Yeah when i ordered direct from FP it was about a week from order to delivery.... I did see on FB they were having all sorts of issues with power outages and phones offline etc so i assume with that and Xmas there would be some delays expected?

I ordered my turbo on the 29th November and im still waiting, unfortunately my order was placed around thanks giving and now xmas, new year etc.

They had a big holiday sale on and I do believe they were smashed with orders so shouldn't be too far off hopefully!

FP Have just started selling their Super94 HTA and Super99 HTZ turbos with T4 twin scroll turbine housings, which personally (and I am sure plenty of others into their RBs :) ) is relevant to my interests.

Good luck, hope it come sometime this month - I am excited to hear how this goes and it's not even my car haha

Thanks Dan shes still couple of weeks away unfortunately :(

Definitely looking forward to some extra added HTA power though :D

This Longest ive EVER been on a stock turbo... Thank G.O.D for ethanol :)

Hopefully you get a chance to take her for another spin as you've sampled the before HTA results..

Hi all, another FP convert here.

My new RB25/30DET (CP pistons, Argo rods, 9.3:1 comp, HKS 256/264 cams, head work, Supertech valvetrain etc) is close to completion and I have a FP GT3586R and FP 0.85 rear housing ready to go - well amost ready, awaiting ceramic coating of turbine housing and polishing of comp' housing.

The aim is to run approximately 30-35psi on E85. Hoping for at least mid 400kW at rears, possibly sneak close to 500kW.

Thoughts?

Awesome, sounds like a potent combo. First thoughts when you mention aiming for 30-35psi are they the turbo is a mismatch for the setup, it WILL choke your engine when you try and hold that boost - however if you are willing to push the setup that hard, and you have the technology to control boost well then I reckon embrace the match you have and bring it up to 35psi and bleed it back to the maybe mid 20s or so that the thing will probably end up being happier with in the high rpm. The KT3 housing will help flow a bit but I think the 35R hotside will be a choker on that kind of setup with that kind of airflow, and even the compressor will struggle and max out.

Now for the bright side, if your aim is 450-500kw...if everything is working right it will probably do that piece of piss (won't need to go over 30psi to do it), and if you end up going to a 30+psi dropping off type boost curve.... It will probably not look amazing in terms of building power up, but area under the curve would be crazy. Hope you have a strong transmission! :-D

Looking forward to seeing the results :-)

Out of interest, what kind of spec are you coming from?

Lith, thanks for your input mate, exactly the kind of info I was looking for!

I'm not 100% commited to running 30-35psi, it was more of a ball park boost level to give a rough idea. If the combo' achieves somewhere in the region of 450-500kW at the rears on say 28psi dropping to 24 for example I certainly won't complain.

Solid area under the curve is exactly what I want to see and is what I'm used to based on my old set-up (although quite a bit less top end power).

Estimated time of completion was mid Feb' but you know how these things blow out. I'll be sure to update when the time comes.

Nice - look forward to hearing how it comes out :) What was the old setup? Any dyno sheets for it or anything? Be interesting to see how it compares, as it looks like the car was no slouch already!

I'm looking forward to how it turns out too.

The old set up consisted of a built 25 (CPs, 8.4:1 - pre E85 era) running a Turbonetics T62-1/T3 .63 Stage 3 on a ETM manifold and Pro-gate 48. On about 22-23psi (top end) it produced the numbers in my sig'. post-81-13924324050854_thumb.jpgpost-81-1392432417858_thumb.jpgpost-81-13924324292374_thumb.jpg

should be a epic,do everything well combo Matt... , looking forward to seeing the results..

cheers

darren

G'day Darren. I caught up with Rob last week. Had a brief chat about cars and how he and you were going.

I sure hope so mate. A solid combo once everything is sorted will keep me happy for a while.
