Forced Performance Hta Turbos

Recommended Posts

FP have released their own 6466TZ which presumably would be the equivalent, and has been discussed hypothetically recently in this thread. Hard to try and crystal ball how they would compare tbh, there are no results out for them yet - I don't even know if anyone has got one yet so it'd probably folly to say anything other than they should be similar, give or take some flow and spool.

Please share the result once done. I am throwing around ideas for a low budget race car.

yeh i will, personally id weld a 11mm T4 open spacer to a stock manifold if it was mine, the T3 housing will be the killer, Should run 9's in a manual

vl though once car and driver are up to spec. Just did 390rwkw with a t04Z/3540 1.06 T3 internal gate on 30psi and united 100 for reference, think

it went 10.4 @ 134mph(manual) with that, although area under the curve is dismal with that big comp wheel driving that turbine, laggy POS

hes gone E85 aswell now

cheers

Bugger - that sucks :( I hope luck improves from here on in!

Ended up getting my money back on that motor and have Darren Lewis building me a complete 30/26 for me, my turbo has arrived but I wont be home for a couple of weeks but will get some pics up when I can

Seems like these new HTA turbos are pretty exciting. Just after opinions on an HTA3076 on a twin cam RB30. In the past with the old garretts, the 3076 did not seem to have enough top end and tended to be out of puff high in the rev range. However these new HTAs seem to flow a bit more. Now in this situation I would be after great response but without running out of puff up top. So just deciding between the HTA3076 or HTA3582 and wondering how people think the HTA3076 would behave. Specs are as follows

RB25 neo head stock with tomei 260 cams (will install some better valve springs)

Running E85 - 1000cc injectors and 1000hp fuel pump

plazmaman plenum and throttle body

6 boost manifold, turbosmart pro gate

intercooler, exhaust etc etc

RB30 bottom end stock for now

I would be after anywhere from 350 to 400rwkw with good response for a street car. I am thinking if I keep the relatively low duration tomei 260 cams with VCT, E85 and the 3 litre bottom end, these three factors should really give me quite a responsive combo. I am thinking it would be super super responsive with an HTA3076 but am just a bit concerned about the top end. I would think the setup would still be relatively responsive even with the HTA3582.

So which would you go for in a fun street car?

I think the 3076 would be too small mate. The HTA3582 seems to spool very similar to a 3076 from all accounts so yes HTA 3582 would be AMAZING on a 3.0L I even think the 3586 would be damn nice on the street!

I would also be inclined to try FP's new .85 housing for nice flow up top on the 3.0L :D

Let us know which path you choose as your setup sounds nice!

I would totally go the HTA3582 on an RB30, I think it would be a weapon for a fun fast street car. HTA3076 is an awesome turbo and definitely flows more than a GT3076R, but bare in mind these also respond a fair bit better size for size.... the spool of an HTA3582 on a 30 would be awesome, even if you kept it under 400kw it would be a good balance but the headroom to hit or go over 400kw with ease will leave you in a good place imho.

I'm still loving the HTA3076 but agree the 3L would probably favour the 3582!!

I am glad i stuck with the 3076 as the power is great and the response is nice, on track i need to learn to get it up on boost quicker out of the corners as i was just using 3rd and 4th the whole day, blew a gearbox the day earlier so am trying to be nice to the new one lol....

What do the HTA35's sound like, do any HTA's sound like a GT3076 or a HKS T51? Looks like the cost of a GT3076 has come up closer to a HTA now or maybe im looking in the wrong places.

The HTA30 and 35s in the Garrett housings don't have epic antisurge whistle - there may be an ever slight background noise (maybe a bit like some GTX do) but nothing like the GT3076R. The HTA3794s sound pretty awesome, and I get the impression the Super94/99 may too - but that's a bit different hahaha. Can't wait to see what the 6466TZ performs and sounds like when someone finally posts results.

Interestingly, the FP 3.25" intake housing seem to whistle like hell - Mick_O's 73HTA sounds awesome!

LOL!! My car is the complete opposite. Reasonably very well behaved around town, deafening when the gate cracks.

I'm gonna need to sort my shit and go pay Mick a visit.

It's taken me a number of nights to read through this thread (thank you night shifts :) ) and I'm sold on the HTA's

The feedback and research that you guys have gone in to is awesome

I've seen Mat's car in action a number of times and the thing is a weapon.

After september I'll be taking the 34 off the road and starting my build. I'll be throwing in the 3076, was thinking a 3073 but FP doesn't seem to have it on their website anymore

Still unsure as to what rear housing and compressor housing to have though. Recommendations?
