I Like Your Old Brap Better Than Your New Brap

Recommended Posts

I thought they might have been discontinuing the 13B and focussing on the 1.6 litre rotary - only my assumption based on the low volume they produce though. If they do bring out a turbo rotary powered car that weighs about as much as the FT86 it should be pretty popular - considering how popular the FT86 is and it is probably a little underpowered. Could be pricey though.

so, 300hp from a 4.8l motor?

lame.

and doubt they will do a turbo model.

ONE of the reasons the rx8 never saw a turbo, was due to the fact they couldnt make it meet the euro emissions.

I've never understood why people get so excited about a car company reviving a model ages after it was canned. people get all excited and then butthurt when it's nothing like the original. of course it's going to be nothing like the original. Times have changed. sure it may loosely resemble the original, but it isn't going to be the same as what it was. no-one would buy it if it was. essentially the rx7 never died, it just got rebadged as the rx8. just like nissan reviving the pulsar name. it never really got canned, three name just got changed to tida.

was interesting to read that it is going to cost more than something like a 370z, so it is probably not going to sell that well.

  • 2 weeks later...

did you know the rx8 has the gearbox at the back :woot:

i just found out today

I didn't.

Nothing beats an old 1st gen RX-7 with a bridgeport and bib pipes.

I am "not allowed to own one" because I "love" my neighbours. (According to my girlfriend, I don't like annoying other people - it's not like I TRY to annoy people by owning an RX7 with a 5 minute warmup symphony.)

I want my old 1st gen back.

:(

I says f**k the neighbors :D, I love my series 3 rx7 with a 13b massive bridgeport 3" straight through exhaust with a varex that only gets used when there's some pork around, it's lovely how when I get home at 3am and you see all the houses in the street light up haha lol.

    • Hi everyone, I bought the Redline diff oil and the seller has sent me Redline 75W90NS even though that’s not what’s pictured.  I’ve already booked a hoist to go and change my diff tomorrow but I’m not sure if the NS is ok for the rear diff in a R34 GTT I think the NS does not have any slip modifiers so would that be an issue?    thanks in advance
    • Not easy to find pics from 15 years ago, but here is a partial one. Keep in mind that it curved immediately from the airbox, then kept a straight line for the MAF to read correctly, followed by a 45 degree bend straight down to the turbo. This connection was the most difficult as it had to twist as well as bend to meet the almost vertical straight section of the intake.
    • Yes, well, wrt a wheel alignment, there are two types. Either: You have very little added adjustables, in which case the alignment can be done by anyone in any tyre shop or equivalent, and will only take 30 minutes, and so there is no reason to even consider leaving the car there. OR: The alignment is a major exercise because you have adjustables everywhere and so you will need to be taking it to a shop that is skilled and experienced at setting up race cars and the like, and you won't need to worry about leaving the car there.
    • does anyone know the specs of the R35 master cylinder, rear ratio and knee point? the BM57 is a 0.4 rear ratio with a 435psi knee. I'm looking for someone with a much lower knee pressure. the piston area of the R35 brakes isnt that big so might not work for me but this is interesting.. the other option for me is a GU patrol master cylinder and booster and do the prop valve externally.
    • It sounds like by avoiding maintenance you may be doing more damage than a hypothetical guy in a workshop taking it for a spin. Not sure if you are just being paranoid or things are actually that bad in the US. Find a reputable shop not run by dickheads. Look for people that take pride in their work. Stick around for the day if you have to
