I had to get an E license a couple of years ago, cost something like $150 bucks but you had to serve a month of your suspension before you could apply. Everyone in court that day got their temporary license approved, some were third time applicants from DD etc so it was really easy. I broke my ankle 2 weeks later so I didn't need it anyway...

Dont beat yourself up too much, it was a silly thing to do but dont believe the bullshit that you were lucky not to have killed anyone blah blah, speed limits are just too low on highways/ freeways and thats why people speed.

If you have a day off and want some quality entertainment, I reckomend going to watch these types of court proceedings, really makes you NOT want to EVER be in that position, but you already know that.

I agree. I've sat in a court room and watched this stuff happen too. It's quite amusing.

99% of cases were DD, and the judge just asks thier full name and what thier excuse is. Then he slaps them with a 3months suspension and a $600+ fine.

If they are a 2nd time offender he actually pauses for a few seconds before handing out a larger fine and 9 months suspension :D

There is something in todays paper (Sat) that if your caught doing 45km/h over the speed limit then that is classed as dangerous driving and your car can be impounded ( for which you have to pay for) then you get your licence suspended. Something to do with the new anti hoon laws here in WA.

yeah those laws were just passed... the 'hoon' laws

**** no! ****s.. those anti hoon laws are wrong. And dont hit me with .. if you dont hoon you wont have a worry. Where the **** were the cops when i was assulted yesterday by a pissed off driver? and where were they when they were smacking the **** outta my panels??

Brent.

hard luck there fane but you know play with fire...... least you wernt out in the back streets like soooo many falcodore drivers im cumin across latley if worst comes ta worst ya know theres plenty of us will let you ride navigator so you can still get a lil dose of sky fun

emancipator? why did they assualt u? and why were they beating the **** outta your panels?

adrian :P

well.. when I got cut off coz HE failed to give way at a roundabout then tailgated me for 10mins fishtailing roundabouts to keep up.. then getting out at a set of lights and attacking me and my car... you gotta wonder WHY....

I got a witness and the rego, so the cops are investigating and i will press charges.

Brent- not in the wrong for a change.

some of judges at the local court are ex cops. So they will believe the word of a cop over urs even if the cops story is BS

Im sorry but where do you get that from, judges at the court are ex cops, meaning they went from the police force into a judges role?? or they then went to university for 4 years and attained a LLB diploma, then went on to practice as a articled clerk then as a barrister and solicitor for a number of years , and were then appointed to the bench?

Fane I would stop listening to this type of advice , with the new changing hoon laws just introduced, my money would be they are trying to pin a DD charge on you, my best advice go and see a legal councillor

Give Legal aid a call , or drop into a community legal centre there is one in rockinham run by murdoch uni, and one in the city , ring legal aid you may only get an articled clerk (trainee lawyer) but if you qualify may be able to give you some advice for free or on the cheap

other option is going to see a lawyer at your own expense, most will give you a free consultation

good luck

I know this coz i know lawyers that know judges in the local courts, and i have personally witnessed these type of judges in action at the local courts. They start off as cops when younger and then do whatever courses they have to, to become judges when they are old bastards, so they still have that initial cop type thinking in their older years. These are the ones you try and stay away from if u have a hearing where its ur word against theirs, cause u have no hope of getting a fair hearing.

The courses they have to do include a law degree & several years as a clerk and I'd say many more years practicing. You'd be a very very old by the time you became a cop and made it to being positioned as a judge, unless you weren't a cop for very long.

back when my old skyline got flashed doin 141 in a 60 zone, it was arnd august, september 2003 i think... and i know i got flashed cause i saw the flash go off and i waited.. took almost 1 whole month before 2 coppers came knocking on my door on a sat afternoon arnd 3pm.. will never forget..freaked the sh1t outta me..

asked me abt that incident...had photos of my car but the number plates were totally blur and then had another picture of my car everything blur except the number paltes..apparently its a technique they use, by reversing something or the other, im not too technical to get the plates to show up. anyhow, took 45 mins of talking..

and off they went..and then i had to show up at the traffic police centre in east perth and see the picture...and it only showed half of "the" face as i had fluffly dices hangning off the rear view... anyhow, i wrote a statement to the fact that it wasnt me and have no idea as to who it was etc...

apparently, if you are the owner of the vehicle and the photographic evidence isnt enough to prove that you were the driver of the vehicle, the onus of proof lies on the police to go and find out who drove that car...they can ask questions buty they cant charge u for anything.. back then. in october onwards, the onus of proof now lies on the owner of the vehicle...if the picture cant be proved as u, either tell em who it was or you get the fine but not losing the points or liscence...i think.. im nnot too sure...this is what he told me when i was there..and he said in 2 months u wud've got the fine anyways or something somethinmg..

anyhow, according to the 2 cops that came to my hse, they said anything above 45km/h, its reckless driving or endangerment or something and they will come to your hse personally...and yeah...it was 2 of em.. :)

Did anyone catch 5thgear on foxtel last night??

I saw the last 10 minutes of it how they were testing a new item which was designed (and is advertised) to do something with your auto garage opener but they discovered if u place it just under your front number plate and set it up at right angles to your number plate that when a cop with a mobile radar aims his radar at your number plate to get a speed reading this device sends a signal back to the radar once it detects a signal and causes the radar gun to give an error message instead of a speed reading. It even has a small led light that you can place in the interior so you know when its sending back a signal to the radar gun. As soon as the copper stops trying to detect ur speed it switches off. They didnt say if it would work on a fixed speed camera tho.

They showed a glimpse of the box at the end and from what i could make out the name of it was TARGET CRC 100 or something similiar. It costs 250 pounds in england and i recon it would be a very good investment but havent been able to tack one down on the few minutes i have looked today. Others might wanna look into this.

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
