sounds like the laser jammer that goes on my radar detector... :P

thats right i have a radar detector, if they are hidden well enough from the detectors you cant slow down in time no matter how good the one you have is....

FYI: i have a Bell Professional RX65 the model up from the Vector 990 or whatever...

definately worth the money but wont save you if your doing stupid speeds....

if you want to drive around doing lots of ks over the speed limit and thats why you want one then dony buy one....but if you want one because you have to drive around alot then yes you should get one.

Reasons

Can pick up speed cameras from ages away....i mean i have got like 1.5k range on a camera and like 3-4ks on a radar on the side of a police car....BUT its NOT relyable...some speed camera doods put it at better angles and hide them behind signs and trees and they are the ones that you get like 100-300m notice... which isnt time to slow down a hell of alot....but you can get down 10ks...

if you can see what im saying you will decide....i do alot of driving and all the people that i know that drive for work have them because they only do like 10ks over and they have time to brake everytime.... its up to you guys...., but something i will say is that it has paid for itself....

*looks at bank account*

The only reason I'd get a radar detector is for night driving when you can't actually SEE oncoming police cars and happen to be doing 10k's over the limit  I would _never_ rely on it to detect camera's as I've witnessed them either not beeping at ALL, or beeping like 3mtrs away. Never seen one detect more than 100m away either! (for cameras that is)

I'll get one soon also

LICENCE Stuff: Got contacted again.....went to cop station, looked at photo and its definately me....admitted to doing it....said my car was upgraded to be safer on the road in every possibly way and that i have done mc motorsport days and collie track days and advanced driver training courses all in my car.... and that i was a good driver, also said about the weather how it was a fine, sunny morning, all these things will help me in the end..... now this info goes to perth and a guy decides what they are going to charge me with and then i get a summons and go to court and the judge decides how much time i get.... the speed ended up being a stupid speed :( stupid me....

Like i said i did it and it was just plain stupid so now im gonna wear it....

Oh by the way i got a yellow sticker on the way home....once i get it off im gonna have to go to welshpool, does anyone have the address of the place for permits and a phone number and any advice about what i can get permitted....exhaust?, pod?, fmic?, afc?, ebc?

Its one of those weeks.... :) oh well

Thanks guys...

RADAR Stuff: i have the BEL RX65 Pro its the top of the wozzers at the moment.... :D it has good range....

nothing will save you from lasers though.....(handhelds) as they only show up as they are getting you....and its already too late....

There is something that can stop mobile radars 2, which i either posted in this thread or another one on a similiar topic.

Its a device that is availabe in the UK which sends a signal back to the radar once it detects the radar signal hitting it and causes the radar to get a error message when trying to determine your speed.

that device can attach to my radar detector.... thats why mine is so good at the moment....but the problem with it is....that they are highly illegal and you cant get them in australia (unless over the internet) and you get a $50k fine if your caught with one apparently. :D

for those who are insterested this is the laser jammer that adapts to my radar

It would be harder to detect that one i would think as it only sends a signal back to the radar causing it an error and switches off a few seconds after it stops getting a reading signal. Tiff tested this while vicky had the radar on her and all the copper holding the radar would see on their gun is a error number. So unless the same copper kept checking your car on different occasions and think its a bit strange ur car keeps reading an error on his radar they couldnt tell.

The device is so small and can be hidden at the front of the car also, only problem is that it is 250 pounds. I been looking on the net for it but cant find a site selling it.

By the time you can actually "see" the radar/cop car it is already all over. From memory they have a range of 600m which even on a flat open hwy is pretty much out of my sight range.

The hand held guns can go up to about 1KM my friend is a detective constable at Leederville station, he's been out on the open road patrol with the outback cops and they ping people on the open road all the time from distance.

They have a thing who can ping the guy from the furthest.

Fane would've been able to help you last year with the permit thing cause i used to work at a computer store in east perth and the manager of the east perth licensing center used to come in all the time to get parts.

Maybe able to still help PM me with your details, ie reg plate so i can make a request if you want to go in there and see him.

thanks JXL i'll keep that in mind if i start getting lots of trouble getting my car over....

no probs, actually hoping to go see him in a few weeks cause i want a permit for the airpod and see what i need to do about getting one when the intercooler goes in.

i've got permits for the BOV, exhaust and the aftermarket wheels so cops cant be picky about it.

so that was a yellow on your ride i saw the other day fane not havin a good run ay oh well things can only look up good luck with the pits an court s$#@ let us know if i can help you out in any way cherri reds still mostly standard an sits in the carport all week so theres std parts for borrowin if yas need

Ok this is how it all paned out....

Went through speed camera at 170kmph in a 100 zone. (stupid  )

Heard nothing for ages

Cop rocks up at my parent's house and realises my car isnt there so drives off.

Cop rings parent's house but get answering machine, leaves message saying ring me on this number.

I ring him but he wasnt there, i leave number.

He leaves note on front door of parent's house saying ring me on this number within these hours...(lists hours)

I ring him and leave number again.

He rings my mobile saying he needs to talk to me more about my car going through a speed camera @ "Really Crazy Excess Speeds".

I go to the station and sit down with the cop and look at the picture in which case it was clearleh me and my car.

I Admit everything saying it was stupid and one of those things you regret.

The cop was cool and turns out his son did the same speed as me and got caught aswell at the same kinda time.

He helped me fill out the form for Reckless/Dangerous driving to try and explain myself.

He said you probably better of saying nothing because it doesnt usually help it usually works against you and they use it against you in court.

I do the opposite of what he said and answered every question.

Questions were like "Why did you do it?"

I answered stuff like "No reason, Stupidity"

"Has you car got upgrades and stuff like that?"

I explained that its built for high speed with suspension and brake upgrades and gave models and sh!t like that.

"Have you done any driving courses?"

Yes i have done yada yada yada yada named lots of courses in my own* car

* (this helped heaps)

Anyway you get the idea.

Long story short the cop that filled out the form with me reckons i was going to get dangerous driving....

The cop in perth that decides from what i wrote down, downgraded it to Speeding, 6 points and $350.

So yes i lose my licence for points but i dont have to go to court or get charged with dangerous or reckless driving or something....

So now i am just waiting to pay the fine and i will lose my licence. :D oh well....have to wear what i have done...

Thanks for all your help guys....

I have a yellow now which is expired because the DPI shutdown :D now i have a new car hurdle :D oh wells....life goes on...

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
