Hi SAU,

I am thinking of purchasing a V35 GT 350-8 (2002 or 03) for about $10,000 with <100,000km's.

I am worried about the cost of parts and service since it's an import and I haven't had any experience with these types before.

Just wondering if some owners of this model (or closely to that) could share with me the type of price I should expect for parts and during service.

Thanks!

Do a bit of searching around SAU about the GT8 CVT gearboxes. When it fails, it will cost MORE than $10k to fix. A number of people have parted out their car and sold it off when their CVT gearbox has developed a fault.

GT8s are highly not recommended imho. Save yourself the (potential) pain and find a non-CVT sedan.

I agree. the CVT wasn't a 'bad' transmission, but if it does have issues, there are very few people locally who know them and work on them and therefore charge big $$, and nissan also charge big $$ for parts.

This CVT is unique to only a couple of models of Nissans, and none were sold locally. It is very different internally to the CVT used in other cars like the Maxima and Murano.

As much as I like the CVT in the Maxima, I would avoid this one simply due to the cost of repair if something goes wrong.
