Sovereign337 gave me an idea. :yes:

1) We are not supposed to rubbish an importer and...

2) We are not supposed to tout.

Sovereign337 said, "There are so many people on SAU with nice cars, they must have come from somewhere."

So I dedicate this thread to you Shane!

So...

If you're happy with your import car: if you had a happy experience with one and sold it, tell us who the importer was!

If you bought the car on consignment, who was the importer (- not the vendor or dealer)?

We have done a head count!

I've had 4x imports from Japan from 4 different importers.

2 importers are worth a positive mention.

1) Iron Chef Imports (aka Kristian)

and...

2) JLM (aka JapLink Motors)

* EDIT Post #2 is kept up to date!

Head Count (last updated on 6/8/14):-

* Iron Chef Imports = 19.5

* J-Spec = 7

* JLM = 5.5

* Northshore Prestige = 5

* jake32 = 3

* AKA PRIMO = 3

* Carizma = 2

* Master Cars = 2

* Special Vehicle Imports = 1

* Import Monster = 1

* Luxury & Performance Vehicles = 1

* Diyimport = 1

JapLink (JLM) does both!

...but since they've moved to concentrate on service, maintenance, repairs and compliancing, they mainly import on pre-orders nowadays (eg 3x EVO 8s in the past month).

Current Stagea - Importer was Iron Chef. Excellent, cannot fault. Compliance was done by JLM (Japlink). Okay.

Previous Stagea - Import and compliance performed by Northshore Prestige. Purchased from their yard stock. Very good service and impeccable compliancing of M35 Stagea's (they are the only ones that do the anchor points nicely)

So we are not allowed to mention importers who are shonky? :domokun:

No, this thread is deliberately designed by Shane and I to highlight who SAUers should or can go to with that element of trust!

2 posts and I already feel loved.. Thanks Terry :)

It just blows me away that true car fanatics can buy cars without seeing or driving them, so there must be a lot of trust placed in these importers especially when they nab them from auctions.

Smidy I'd be interested to hear about your story too, like if it was auction or dealer and how thoroughly it was inspected etc.

Keep them coming guys, this is great info!

I have had Steve (jake32) import a few cars for me over the past 8 or 9 years or so. Everything from Skylines, to Chasers to a few old Mazdas. A real straight up guy who was one of the original vehicle importers when the whole import scene first started way back when, and running a sevs and raws workshop for complaincing.

importer me ...very happy :yes:

You can add lots of information if you like including...

* how many cars you missed out on before being successful at auction

* auctioned car or private treaty

* Japanese or USA etc service history available

* inspection available or done before auction

* auction details available or not

etcetera...

JapLink Motors > imported > Complied > Serviced the EVO before handover even though they didn't need to.

They said that the logs were overdue by 4000Kms so...

Car was inspected by a Daniel in Japan before auction, under instruction from Todd.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
