Buying A Import And Build / Manufacture Plate Is Missing - Is This An Issue?

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to buy a type x 180 and had found a perfect example. I have not bought the car yet but can see now it has no manufacture/ build plate (silver one in the engine bay). The one that says engine number, paint colour, transmission etc.

Is this an issue? It has the pink compliance sticker and engraved Vin and it all checks out ok when I do a REVS report.

Is it a legal requirement? I supposed I'm now wondering why it wouldn't be there as every japcar iv had has had this.

Not sure but maybe talk to a workshop to see if they can give you a blue slip. If they can't without the plate walk away.

If it's reregistered over and over again in the same state, I don't see any problem.

But as Chris above stated, if it's a requirement to get it blue slipped interstate, walk away.

If it has the compliance vin it shouldn't be an issue, the Jap build plate isn't even needed for Aus registration. So long as it has the compliance plate/sticker and the compliance vin plate then it should be fine. Would wonder why it doesn't have the blue plate though, a mate of mine bought a car that was missing it that on closer inspection turned out to be a badly done cut and shut.

there is no requirement to have this for compliance but there could be bad history with the car either prior to being imported or here is Aus, I would stay away!!
