Two questions for anyone that knows or has experience, when hubcentric wheel spacers are fitted, do the factory studs have to be cut down so that when the rim is fitted back it sits against the spacer and not on the ends of the factory studs that poke through (ie. you only get say a 15mm spacer and not a 40mm one which would conceal the factory studs)?

Also, has anyone run spacers on a GTR with over 300 awkw? I know they're not ideal and I'm in 2 minds about running them, but I want a bit of fatness and I'm scared a wheel will come flying off! How safe are they? In my own experience I was once sitting in a mate's Aristo when 1 of his rims came off the custom-made hubcentric spacers he was running. Luckily he was only driving at about 40 km/h :/

ps. I am quite aware of the legal issues surrounding their use :)

hey mate im running spaces on my car and i know alot of ppl dont like them..

but hey thats my choice and it adds that fatness to my car.. my spaces have been fine never had any issues of anything being loose or no change in the driving side either

i think you should be fine atm i am going to put spaces on my brother's dc5 his only using 15mm spaces so im going to get extended studs put in and remove the studs from the spacer so it goes right thru

WOW that's different. Sounds like it would be safer than using the studs on the spacer. Hope it works well for you

As long as it's 66.1mm hub centric there shouldn't be any issues. Your wheels might have the room on the mounting surface for the studs, but 20mm should cover the studs.

What is the significance of 66.1mm? Do you think if I used 15mm spacers I would have the problem of the factory studs poking through? I think they would...

Racepace do a lot of things but at a price :)

I don't think it will be all that expansive.

And I'd pay them to do it!

As you know there are a lot of cheap shit spacers out there and it's a gamble.

At least you know you can talk to them about it and have the reassurance and peace of mind :)

I've never put spacers on a GT-R, but assuming they have the same stud length as other Skylines, 20mm will cover the stud whereas 15mm doesn't. Can you run an extra 5mm?

Have you had a look at the wheel's mounting surface? Aftermarket wheels tend to have depressions in them, which wouldn't cause an issue with exposed studs.

66.1mm hub > nice, snug fit. You tend to see 73mm or so hub diameters for a wider vehicle compatibility. Pretty easy to get hub rings. GKTech ones are made for Nissan hubs (66.1mm).

If it really bothers you, you can always carefully cut the studs down (file the tips a bit so it centers the nuts when you put them on).

    • I would be lying if I said I wasn't interested in what MCM were going to do with the NC I really enjoy their banter and occasional collaborations (like Alan from TSF, Ben from BCW, or any of the Haltech guys throwing around their experience), and I have probably watched everything they have put out
