Hi All, Own a R32 GTR

I've currently got 2.5" Inch Dumps to 2.5" Front Pipes to a 100cell then true 3" Right back. ( Currently on stock turbos )

My new setup that will be completed this year will be

HKS GT-SS

Haltech Pro

Tomei Cam gears

Tomei Pon Cams type b

Arp Head studs

Tomei Metal Headgasket 1.0mm
Id1000s

Tomei Valve Springs.

E85 & 98 Tune.

Looking around 350awkw hopefully or there abouts... Now is it worth me going a new exhaust.? Will i be restricted by this exhaust?

I'm thinking of going 3" Dumps to 3" Splits to 100cell then 3.5" Right back but i dont want to lose my down low response.

By upgrading the size a little will it be even noticeable response difference?

Getting so many different opinions id love to see some dynos before and after exhausts if they could display for me?

Thanks all.

Before my 32 GTR went in to have work done, it was making 320awkw and it had 2.5" dumps and fronts, metal cat and 3" cat back.

So 350awkw shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for the input, do you mind saying what turbos u had / lil setup like i did ? was this on 98? how much boost?

thanks again

I had stock dumps, put on Tomei dumps - no difference, only change was exhaust and a lighter bank balance.

There was no bottom end loss, no top end gain (PULP/340rwkw). Only difference here is E85 - would potentially offer benefit, necessity? Certainly not.

with bigger dumps, your gona loose some bottom end response it's inevitable, but slightly more top end power

Proof?

We have just had a discussion about this small exhaust vs big exhaust bizzo only last week week. The guys that have gone from a peanut exhaust to something big and free flowing have ALL SAID the bottom end felt stronger! Myself included.

Including Nisomid? Who just SAID 5 MINUTES AGO it makes absolutely FA difference both top end and response, so the placebo of the better exhaust sound has gotten the better of u .

I've known people to revert back to smaller front pipes on sr20 to get better response to response for drifting so I assumed dump pipe/s would be the same.

And people said when they put on a bigger exhaust they lost some low end response but made up for it in top end power. So If u think more free flowing the better, then why don't u put on a 5 or 6" exhaust" ? you'll be the fastest car on the dyno in the world then

Sultanaz, Your existing will be fine for your goal and moar (400+kws). Save your dollars for something else.

My setup is similar to yours except I run -7's. 330awkws @ 19psi, 98ron

Haltech Pro, Type B, ID1000's, 3inch blitz Nur spec exhaust, Xforce dumps, 100cell cat

I wish I made the power as easy as you Sinista.

I'm running -7's on E85. 325rwkw @ 20psi. HKS dumps, unknown front pipe, 3" 100 cell cat and 3" cat back.

I'm still running standard actuators though so I think that might be holding me back as the boost drops off to 16psi.

Eventually I'll go up to a 3.5" exhaust to see what happens.

Yeah mate,

Had Trust T517Z twin low mounts (pretty sure 10cm)

Remapped standard ecu

Adjustable cams gears

Tomei Poncams Type B

Head had slight work done

Nismo 660cc injectors

HKS 2.5" dumps

Unknown 2.5" to 3" front pipe

100 cell cat

unknown 3" cat back with twin mufflers (nice and quiet, barely hear it idle)

All running 20psi on 98ron

"It's inevitable you will loose bottom end"

Ash didn't, yet went bigger. Maybe that's how his car was setup. He DEFINATELY didn't go backwards as you're implying. Time to put the text book away and go off the guys who have spent the money trying different things AND have the numbers to prove.

Ill give you an example. My GT RS setup with a kakimoto "full mega N1" exhaust (which had a 2.5 inch restrictor in the rear muffler) was terrible. At 2.0 bar it made 414, 1.7 it made 404 or something. Got rid of that catback to a 3.5 inch and not only did it woke up the turbos but it also went alot better uptop. Then went to smaller turbos with a twin 3 inch and I made AN EXTRA 100 kw at 4000 rpm and an extra 25 ontop which is still no where near it sits today! Real world experience, real cars. Not something you have read between session on red tube!

OP. As Allan said, 34 dumps/sole sort of bellmouth jap dump, find a front pipe which is twin 75's into 90 (I think midori do a set), big cat and ATLEAST 3.5 inch cat back. Without some silly restrictor like alot of the "brand name jap" exhausts have. Having been through it a few times it really isn't that mug more to get a custom system made up which hugs the car with big meaty mufflers. If I had to do it again, that's what I would do!

He makes 475kw out of low mount turbos and makes power pretty much from idle, so I think he has a bit of an idea about an exhaust that works!

↑↑↑ THIS! Piggaz car is faarkin mental in everyway the setup is nothing short of amazing! So I suggest a lil more research pumpkinhead ;) Piggaz knows his shit! Clearly you dont!

BOOM!

BOOM!

These setups look like a recipe for a response burger with the lot! MMM i'll have all I can eat thanks

He DEFINITELY didn't GAIN power which is what your implying! I was talking about the dump pipes not the cat back, so don't let the cat out of the bag

and Ash doesn't is what he's saying?

wow talk about humping the shit out of someones leg there, and this is coming from the guy who tries to sell his r33 for 19k$ I mean but I gota give u cred if u sold it then it certainly would of been the scam of the century dats 4 sure. I've sold more cars then you've got hairs on you're ass and theres no way in a million years u could get 20grand for an r33gtst, I mean r u serious?

Even r33 GTRs can get cheaper then that, and r34gtt neos r certainly way cheaper, so I suggest u do a little more research on the car value market b4 tryin to pull a fast one and or waiting 10 years b4 someone gave u 19k

Sometimes I wish I could bulldog this guy. Bulldog IRL. he walks through the door, then BAM!! Bulldog to the face.

LMAO what tuff guy fail, whats a bulldog? I've never heard of the UFC move b4, or is that KFC..

Edited by discoPumpkin

So want to post a bulldog, but may lead to permaban lol. No threat of physical harm here darling. If you fcuked me off you'd know. Just kinda getting sick of the merry go round your on. People are getting ill informed by a keyboard warrior who has an ego issue and doesn't know when to stop flapping his gums. Show me your real world data to prove all the Indy car teams, all the competitive race teams the world over, and all the guys here with real life experience, wrong. Maybe then we will all go throw twin 1 3/4" exhausts on our gtr's.

I seriously think I've had smarter farts than you have had thoughts in your entire pointless existence in this world.

Hugs and kisses, Allan

    • Purchased a NC MX5 a while ago Basic suspension mods done, BC coils and Whiteline sway bars  New DBA calipers, discs and pads Added some 17 x 8 Konig Decagrams with PS5's Added some typical NA bolt on's, i.e. full exhaust and intake  Added 0.5ltrs with a MZR2.5 swap, nice bump in torques  Found a detachable hard top which is locked in for a colour match with my local paint shop in Feb 25 The little thing is awesome, I drive it everywhere, it handles like a dream whether I'm up it or just cruising  But now,  because I'm a idiot, I keep looking at turbo kits....... did I mention I'm a idiot Why is dose so appealing
    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
    • Nissan needs to forget about building SUVs in every size possible and bring back the damn Silvia/200sx duo to compete with the 86/brz. Maybe with the Honda type r motor pointing the right way
