Sigh. Ok discodickhead. Please go search a little subject involving pressure difference between exhaust manifold and inlet manifold. Then, after you get your puny brain around that, search the next subject. Exhaust scavenge, velocity and pressure balance vs flow dynamic properties of hot gas. There is a reason the most obvious of all machines, trucks, use large bore exhausts that are short, smooth and free flowing. I know that in most cases, the turbocharger is designed specifically for a particular engine capacity and configuration as not having a responsive boost control method on the exhaust housing may blow your mind, but the theory is exactly the same. The pressure difference between the inlet and exhaust manifolds need to be different, the less pressure in the exhaust manifold, the faster the turbocharger can compress, therefore fill the cylinder and in turn, increasing performance and most importantly, response. The more air you can get in, the more air you can burn and get out. Next subject will really rattle you. Volumetric efficiency. Actually, fcuk it. Your a deadset spastic. Just google shart. That's about what your good for.

What an absolute moron, I mean you've had 7 years to research all of this stuff and has it payed dividends do u think... Are u an engineer yet or hell even a mechanic, what r u still doing on an open forum then if u claim to bean expert? U can research all u want doesn't mean theory its gona translate into real life scenarios, but good on u Allan for trying, it helps with your autism. This is my scientific explanation, hope u can understand all the algebra etc...

my set up is - R34 dumps, Nismo Front pipes backed onto a 3.5 mild steel exhaust with a single hooker muffler

Only thing i will be adding is a hi flow cat 100 cell - The in cabin fumes from the de cat are quite unbearable...

Must not be driving fast enough :P

I don't claim to be an expert. Actually, I don't claim anything. I just make funny cast iron and aluminium components go bang bang bang really really fast and make some funny number when I attach them to the funny wires and computers and stuff. I do it all with a ball point pen taped to the side of it.

Please for the love of god, someone invent a way for me to backhand through the interwebs so I can get this kid back to doing dishes and taking rubbish out for his parents.

Must not be driving fast enough :P

haha is a strong smell the norm? Seriously smells like i spat out a litre of V power into the back seat to soak in.. that Hole in the bottom of the R33 boot (unsure on others) does not help...... Need to bung that up

Dunno man. I have no problems inside the cabin. Only smell is from the arse end when outside.

How dare you bring logic into this discussion you heathen!

Is this guy 4 real? So why u don't have a 6 inch exhaust then? that's the million dollar question on everyones mind because according to your theory absolutely no backpressure is the key to HP and at the same time you don't loose any response, omg omg, I'm calling my tuner tomorrow to get him to put the worlds biggest exhaust on.

So tell me then whats stopped u then I wonder from putting on a 6 inch exhaust like u say considering how much extra hp you'll gain from all this "no backpressure" wizardry

But instead you'll be spending thousands on cam shafts, cam gears, springs and headgasket for your "weekend GTR"- ok cool. Might I ask how many km's this 20 year old beast has accumulated?

Its not that bad. and my weekend gtr is my fun car.. I take it on the track / drags too... and i've driven 12000kms in less then a year in my weekend car FYI.

Just to proove how far i drive kinda thing lol.

75000kms roughly but u no what imports are like... It is quite immac though... Genuine paint/ great interior.. Who knows.

It's only one person who has turned this to shit.

There are reasons you don't go so big of an exhaust discoprincess...

OMG r u 4 real PLS GO!! THATS THE VERY THING I WAS DISPUTING U IDIOT, I WAS THE ONE SAYING THE BIGGER U GO THE WORSE OF IT IS WHEN IT GETSTO BIG, LEARN TO READ, GO BACK TO THE NA forum where ya belong babes xo

To op goodluck with the build, let us know how it comes along

    • Duh... to answer my own silly question, it's actually described in the FSM... ...400 pages away at the end of the manual, for RB25DE/DET signal descriptions, it cites the TPSwitch signal action, is dependent on the TPSensor value ~ this tends to infer the builtin POT voltage signal is the primary, and the switches are fallback/secondary should the POT fail/TPSensor signal lost (and switch alone with no TPSensor signal allows for base idle speed setting).... makes sense... they (TPS units) used to fail/wear the POT with time, they're not exactly built to last ~ having the switch as a redundancy gets around this...(or, it's less likely both signals would be lost as they're on different power rails)... and of course wrt RB26DETT, you have to electrically disconnect the IACV solenoid from the harness, to defeat idle air control...
    • Dose is unaware just how much fun 145-150kw would be in a 2.5L NC MX5. It would be one of the most fun things to drive to ever grace SAU.
    • Same thought crossed my mind ~ depends on how one connotes 'stalling'...ie; gets a rough/stumbling idle as it get warm until it stalls... or... idles ok and simply falls-over when it gets to temp... ...you can test the whole circuit with a couple of resistors ...unplug coolant temp sensor, bridge terminals with a 2K7 resistor (ECU will do cold start), or with engine warm bridge with a 330R resistor (ECU will consider engine to be at normal operating temp)...it's a quick way to check wiring integrity/ECU response when you don't have a multimeter handy ...
    • They also make them with the motor mounted on the side
    • Just be warned that that turbo will not be a direct re-fit to the car. The exhaust housing is, of course, in the same place. It has to be - it's bolted to the exhaust manifold. So the dump will fit up. But the centre housing is not as long, so the comp housing will move backwards. This will affect both the turbo inlet and the outlet. There is fab work that needs to be done. Yes. it has one, it should have one. Paper gasket.
