Hi. In the market for a portable GPS. Looking mostly at tomtoms and garmins although nothing seems to review that well. Main things I want is good quality screen, accurate maps, speed camera locations and easy to use. Tryed searching here with no luck and googling just seems to come up with reviews that don't seem to offer a model to suit what I'm after. What do you use and how do you rate it?

Cheers. Luke

I've had no real problem with TomTom until last Sat.

I wanted to go from Maroubra to Wahroonga and punched in the data.

So here I am coming down Maroubra Rd westbound towards the intersection of Anzac Pde and TT tells me to turn right 200m before the lights > I dutifully obey.

Then TT tells me to go down a lane that can barely fit my car.

Then it tells me to turn right into oncoming traffic (because Anzac Pde Maroubra is fractioned off into two sides) > WTF

Do these all have the odd glitch?

The Garmin in the Cruiser works great! Speedo is pretty accurate as well which is handy :)

And Terry, bad driving is just a part of your culture  Dont blame the GPS :P

Get an Android phone and use Google Maps' in-built navigation (requires access to data connection). If you're not into that, alternatives to the JB-hifi offerings are:

Magellan: http://www.magellangps.com.au/Products/Outdoor/eXplorist_Series and http://www.magellangps.com.au/Maps/Outdoor_Maps/City_Series/City_Series_Australia. Only the higher end models have turn-by-turn navigation (510 and 610).

Hema (they only have one model, which is high end): http://www.hemamaps.com.au/Home/Landing-Pages/HN6/Hema-Navigator-HN6

EDIT: I just found this forum too: http://www.gpsaustralia.net/.
