Is there any way to tell an rb20det from a redtop and silvertop. I know the inlet manifold s are different, but bot models had this manifold, so how else can I tell which engine this is?

All I need to do is find out which gasket kit to get for my inlet manifold, but it is looking to be a mission to find out

Redtops have "NICS" on the manifold, as distinct from "ECCS" on the pictured manifold. Redtops are generally from R30 / R31 Skylines, Silvertops are R32 (although that engine bay doesn't look very "R32").

Don't forget Z31 (with a top mount intercooler)

Don't you mean INTERWARMER?

The other difference in the manifolds is the redtop manifold has dual ports for each cylinder - because it runs a variable inlet runner design. Silvertops have a single inlet runner with a single port onto the head.

    • Tbh, I have no idea who this is bahahaha. hint? I live in the real world now, certainly not swinging spanners anymore though
    • Joey, are you still in playing "spanner club" Mafia somewhere mate? Or you now out in the real world where you actually have to work for a living? BTW, the car looks clean, and the pods look sweet, are you removing to go full OEM type of resto?
    • I like the idea of tagging the model, and if GTS-t/GTt or GTR, and then a what, so wiring, engine, suspension.   That way you end up with a matrix, all content R33 GTST, or you can find all content that is wiring related for example.
    • You could probably just go with the genuine Nissan pads, they are not really the expensive, I can't say how they compare to your 350GT pads but at least they will give decent performance. Shims are probably the reason for the squeal.  When I bought my Q50 which runs the same Akebono brakes, the previous owner had some weird pads fitted and it squealed and dusted like crazy, I bought genuine pads and when I put them in, I found all the shims missing.  With the factory pads, the dusting is much better, performance is fine, but it still squeals when cold.  A bit of grease on the back of the pads and mounting points gets rid of it, but it comes back after a while.  I have bought a genuine shim kit that I need to install when I get around to it, hopefully that will fix the squeal.
    • Highlight that row, and a bit of trial and error. Try reducing it by 25% and see if it starts, if not, go the other way. On the newer Kebabtechs that table is in VE which makes it so much easier to calibrate.
