Hi guys I painted my 26 covers with high temp primer then acrylic colour the high temp clear, I baked it in BBQ at 160 degrees for an hour when it cools it seems ok but when it heats up goes soft again! So I'm going to try a high temp red to see if its using the 3 coat system or not has anyone come across this before ?

Try a long air dry.
Acrylic doesn't usually go soft under heat I've found with my models.

But my knowledge can be taken with a bar of soap.

Maybe strip it all, High temp hard coat it red, then hi temp clear?

Could be acrylic reacting with enamel (?) in the Hi temp paints?

Hi i used 2pac paint on my engine parts as i tried acylic paint before and it ended up cracking The 2pac has lasted a year now and its like the day i sprayed them. I wouldnt use 2pac clear over the colour as i think the heat from the engine would react to it causing it to crack.

With 2 pack paints, you don't need to clear all colours.
COB is only for acrylics, metallic and pearls.

Clearing over a 2 pack enamel is pointless anyway according to a mate.
The enamel usually has a hardcoat gloss finish.
The clear wont stick and it will peel off.

Just pay 150 odd bux and have them painted at a panel shop - save you more money in the long run mate.
