I have recently brought my first skyline and need to replace the rear tyres.

I have an r33 GTR VSpec with r34 gtr rims ( I think they are 18 x 9 ),

currently running 245 40 yokohama S Drives all round.

would it be a bad combination to put 275 40 KU19 on the back?

I was going to replace them with the same ones but the kumhos are on special for 200 each

Great site by the way

A handy tool to use is this -

http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator

It will show you what it does to the rolling diameter etc

thanks mate the tyre shop said it would work but i guess there were just trying to get rid of stock.

245 40 = 653mm

275 40 = 677mm

will it be a big let down if I replace the rear with the same tyres when the fronts have 60-70% tread.

The only 275 wide tyre that would (should) work would be a 35 profile. That is only 0.5% different to the front tyres you have.

In your situation I would do exactly what I do in my own situation. Run the same size tyres all around, replace one pair at a time. New ones go on the front, front ones go to the back. That way you always have the newest best tyres at the most important end, and there's never more than about 50% tyre wear difference between front and back.

Granted, on a GTR you really need to keep the tyres as close to the same size as humanly possible, but ~50% wear difference on the same size tyre shouldn't upset the ATTESSA too much.
