Before I get hammered for not using the search button - I have searched for the past 30 mins trying to find the answer.

I am doing some mods to my 33 gts-t series 2 aiming for around 300rwkw. I just assumed that I would need to upgrade my coil packs to Splitfires but my mate reckons its just series 1's that have the problem when chasing more power and the series 2 coilpacks are fine for 300rwkw. Is this true ?

your mate needs a f**king slap.

oem coil packs are the best. period.

you may need to change them if they are old and breaking down. people go for split fires because they are good and reliable and cheaper than oem.

What Plattsy said.

Basically, if you start modding it and they begin to break down then yeah you should replace. OEM work fine, I'd only buy Splitfire if they are a good price.

Any coil pack will break down when they get older and older. Some cars might make 300+ before the coils give issues, others even stock will start to die.

My factory coils broke down at 100k with only 200kw but it was just an age thing NOT power related.....

Been running splitfires for 4 years now and am now running 390ish kw and NO problem at all :)
