I'm actually planning to head to drags this sunday....never been before

Is it cool if I join in on the lane you've booked? How much $$ is it?

Sure thing mate hop in with us! You'll learn a heck load :D

Think we already have some S14/15's coming along so can have a chat. ( I think you have an s15 haha )

Its $55 to compete

$20 for spectators

Good to see guys coming out for a crack!

This is only my 3rd visit so i know what if feels like!

For competitors remember.

Important items for competitors to bring:

  • Current drivers licence
  • An Approved Helmet - See Approved Helmets Here (AS/NZS 1698 sticker)
  • Long-sleeved shirt
  • Long pants
  • Enclosed shoes (no thongs or sandals)

Make sure your battery is in tight and you have no oil leaks.

Charge your gopros!

Note - Got an email from John @ the drags saying they where booked out for lanes damn. So next best thing i do is ask to be all put in one lane.

Looks like its going to be a busy Sunday!

I'll be heading out from the Hills area if anyone is nearby can cruise out together.

I might have to step aside from this one. The admins said its pretty much fully booked and going to be a busy day.

Might go back on a Wednesday night when its cooler and i'm able to book a lane.

If it fills up with 220 cars - Will only get about 2-3 runs I'd say from 10am-4pm.

When i go at night i get about 6-8 runs and I'm there for less time

Sorry about that guys, but if only Sunday you can make it definitely go down and have a crack! Then come to a Wednesday night one as well after. Hopefully #@34GeeTeeTee can make it to this one. July 3 or 10 lets sketch it in

Disregard what i said earlier. I will be there, got convinced to go out since i won't have a Wednesday off in a while :/

If you are still keen to go please PM me!

Hmm, I've bailed out now man.

Not exactly sure how entry works, but seeing as I'd be coming from Newcastle don't want to take the risk of getting there and not getting any runs if all the lanes are already booked...

I highly doubt ALL the lanes will be booked out, its just the allocation for bookings has been filled. So if we get in early ~ 930/10 and ask to all be in one lane it will still work out.

But all the way from Newie i feel you!

You can't book "all the lanes".

Competitor gates open at 10am so you want to be there by 9:30 to 9:45am at the latest and line up at the gates with other competitors. The first 220 through the gate get to race, everyone after that is a spectator or goes home.

After you have been scrutineered you line up in the lanes behind the start area that the officials appoint you to based on the type of car you have or the expected ET.

The only benefit to "booking a lane" is so that if you have a group of a dozen or more mates that you want to race against it makes it much easier to line up against them instead of mixed in with everyone else.

This man speaks the truth. Well put :)

I have the car on tralier see you guys there it should be a good temp wise good hp and good times

    • Nothing wears "the most". Different cars will always show signs in a different place. 114000 km is either nothing at all (as in, given the calendar age, nearly brand new) or it's completely unbelievable. We stopped believing numbers like that about 15 years ago. Having said that, my car is up around 270000 km and I have put bushes into some places** as many as 10 times in >25 years that I've owned it. ** FUCAs, which are different on an R32 than on a 33, so not likely to be the same issue for you. I have original ball joints all the way around. They are perfectly fine. Same with the spindle bearings in the front. Tie rod ends have all been done at least once though. Pretty much every other bush in the car has been done at least twice. Some of those in the first 100000km after I got it (which was at a genuine 23000!). Some of those bushes are now sphericals, and they are on a <cough> regular maintenance schedule, hence why my FUCAs have been rebuilt so many times. Half of those 10 in the count above would be in the last few years! 'twere I you, I would budget on replacing everything, for fun and prevention. If they really are 30 year old rubber, they will all be unpleasantly aged in one way or another. Whether that's corrosion of shells, or the rubber cracking, or sagging under the load, etc etc.
    • Tighten until it starts to get loose again, then back off 1/4 turn?
    • Do them as you'll find when you remove them they are perished/dried.    Its probably one of the best things to do as makes the car so much more responsive. Do ball joints while there too.
    • Hi All Got an R33, about 114,000km on the clock.  Handles very nice, no signs of issues.    Engine is out and i'm doing an underbody refresh, mainly painting subframe, cosmetics etc. Can't see anything physically giving play, but I'm wondering which bushes are the ones that wear the most, or the first ones that may give problems down the track? For good measure I'm thinking to fit new ones. Thanks
