So we were installing new fortune auto 500 series coil overs and on final torquing to specifications one of the bolts on the tophat snapped in two.

1. is it safe to run on 2 instead of 3 bolts

2. how do i change the bolt as its not covered by warranty, do I have to press it out with a machine or can i punch / drill it out?

The stud is an interference fit in the top hat, just like a wheel stud in a hub. Remove the coilover and place a socket on the underside of the top hat that fits over the base of the stud. Support the bottom of the socket on a work bench, or the like, and hit the top of the stud with a hammer. If you have access to a puller/press all the better.

I tried punching it out but had no success at the moment. May try #@luke gtr method and drill it out.

Am i supposed to use a smaller bit than the bolt to drill it out?

Or should i just take it to a professional and get it pressed out.

Cheers

My Teins did that, i was able to support it on a bench and punch it out with a lump hammer and punch! Then nut and bolt....

It wouldn't cost much to get someone to do it if you dont have the equipment.
