there has to be pressure all the way up to the reg and inside the fuel rail. the reg does exactly what its name is....regulates the pressure, but the pump has to be running to create the pressure, backyarder style is to pull of the feed line and crank the motor if fuel pressure is there it will spit alot of fuel out, now if there is pressure and no fuel in the cyliners then you have a faulty cas or faulty injectors

Definitely not normal. The only thing that controls the pressure is the regulator, so pump on means pressure at injectors, its notlike the ecu can somehow drop the pressure when the pump is on.

Had this car actually run previously? sounds like you have some issues

Well I sorted the fuel out had a blockage in the old fuel filter god knows how old it was and it doesn't sound like a wrx anymore with the new MAF so I'm pretty happy. Next thing is the car makes power and pulls up until around 4k then it's just like dead revs and has no power. It idles fine and revs fine in neutral any ideas?
