Ok it seems our resident geniuses came to play on page 2..read what they say as it's interesting and you could learn a little,but ignore it...if you can't pay to play just get a secondhand turbo for now and start saving coin for the real thing.. Because a half baked skyline, isn't really a skyline at all ;)

yea i have a bit of saving to do. my car isnt even on the road yet as it shit itself before i could even get a roady for it which i think was my 3rd drive in it haha, i have got an offer of a second hand greddy ultimate already but not sure how long till i'll even be able to use it. i also need to get my manual license and do a conversion before i start winding it up like crazy. (only on my first year of green p's btw). thanks for the suggestions and help :) that's a thanks to everyone else on here as well btw

I don't necesarily think so, if they all "suck" as you say why would manufacturers use AFM instead of all going to MAP sensors?

AFMs cost more than MAP sensors.

Not sure about these days, but back in the days when I fooled around with tuning cars for friends I found that cars using MAP sensors instead of AFMs had a flat spot transitioning from -ve to +ve plenum pressure, could be ECU related so I don't know. However, I'm getting an Adaptronic ECU soon and running a MAP sensor so I'll find out for myself 1st hand.

I can high flow stock turbo so they work fine with factory ECU and still make bit more power then standard. But they don't make much power if you have plans for supporting mods.

It has nistune installed. But the response and torque delivery is identical to factory turbo. So if you run it on 10psi with stock ecu it has stock turbocharger's drive ability.

So you determined that your factory turbo is actually broken and the cause of your problem or are you just buying a new turbo because you still don't know what caused your initial issues?

i had a little understatement earlier, hasnt been in my garage in a while and realise the turbo blades were caked in oil and there was oil coming from the centre housing. so far i have it down to turbo and cooler pipes. sparks plugs had a bit of carbon but no more then you'd expect from 8 months old plugs

yeah its just a personal preferance ;)

if your turbo still has blades then its not blown....turbo blades caked in oil is often just excessive blowby...maybe invest in an oil catch can first...

yea im investing in a catch can too, need to find a thread on whats good. the shaft had play in it too and i cant get that repaired sop i went high flow. might as well upgrade while its there.
