i want to get a us head unit will it work here. i want one with maps will that work i dont care really about the radio really. these are the links of the ones i want if some one can help me please do !

^ Was just about to post that. You can get pretty good deals here in Aus. Plus you know your radio will work, because you can see it in action.

IMO, if u check... Aust models are just as good as those in US actually and the cost of bringing one in... plus shipping might even be more expensive.

if its just a couple of dollars cheaper, i suggest getting it locally cos there is warranty etc. unless the difference in price(after shipping) is >AU$500?

I picked up a pioneer avh locally, but only because it was on sale and the price (after 35% off) was only marginally more expensive than importing.

I brought another in from the US - because it was a good 300 cheaper than the nearest price I could find locally.

I'm all for supporting local competitive businesses - but the key word is competitive.

OP - to answer your question all the functions will work fine, except if you're buying a unit with maps loaded on. The Pioneer units with AppRadio, you use maps that you download from Australian iTunes store, so you're sweet.
