It is the correct section BUT you will find the same answer from a lot of the guys, they will tell you the info is readily available on SAU and to use the search function.

The newer haltech series is a LOT better than the old Power FC which is now fairly outdated! As you will be running an RB25 in and old S13 you dont need the ECU to drive too much, you just need it to work! Depends on what your budget is and how much you want out of it.

I have an adaptronic select on my R32 gtr, i did have a power FC but was having issues when i went to greddy piping.

I find the adaptronic really good, i have a switch on my dash for high / low boost, The software runs on windows 7/8 32 and 64 bit and just runs off a usb cable. I can log data and login to view it. I dont fiddle with the tuning side of things, but i could if i want. I am also going to be going to flex fuel tune soon.

Also i have emailed adaptronic with a couple of questions and they have been more than willing to respond accurately and in a timely manner.

I like it that much that in my other GTR i am probably going to be putting adaptronic select as well.

My drift car S13 has a nistune on it. seems good. serves it purpose, but no logging etc.

Nistune does logging. Just need the laptop connected to make it happen, that's all.

Nistune is good, and is the closest to being legal. You would have to be very unlucky to get found out for having Nistune installed, whereas every other ECU, even the ones that get jammed into a Nissan casing, are very easily spotted as not being kosher. But Nistune doesn't offer you any extra functionality that you don't get in the factory ECU. So if you need boost control or other aux outputs, you need another ECU.

Yeah, I had a quick look with search but all I could find relating to ecu's was in the FS area. But as gee said its for an RB25DET going into an S13, no street use purely track, drift pig to be specific. Money isn't really a holdback as I want to do everything right first time round and as a mechanic I can get very picky. I know a few people with aftermarket ecu's but only Nistune and Power FC's where as I've heard good things about the Haltech. Just curious to know more is all, weigh up my options.

Cheers Andrew.

An important factor, who is your tuner and how much do they know about ECU's?

Also, where are you located?

The help is all here on SAU but details are the key to getting most out of here!

I'm eastern suburbs in Melbourne and I'd like to go to R & E customs just because I've seen what he can do, I'm thinking about calling him up and seeing if I can have a chat with him about the whole build and see what he thinks/recommends.

Are RE still open? I saw Ray working at RTR the other day.

I would also look seriously at the Adaptronic, great value for money and if you can wire it in by splicing into the harness, even cheaper. (I would still go the plug-in though.)

Link G4 for sure. Preferably the Extreme wire in.

Far far better than Haltech. We wont even compare it to a PFC haha.

I hear Adaptronics are good and people like them. I would without a doubt buy an adaptronic over a Haltech and of course a PFC.

Nistune is great for a street car that you want to keep legal looking. You can tune the engine and thats it.

link g4 plug has the best reputation I know of. I paid $1600 NZ for it when I lived in nz 2 years ago when they were fairly new , im robbing it from my GTR in nz getting it sent over to replace the power fc in my gtr over here. I hear haltech are good to

im new to power fc's but not sure if power fc are ultra crap and or Godzilla motorsport cant tune gtr's. I cant wait for link and new tune for a smooth running, smooth idling, non plug fowling, non bumper staining gtr

question:

-with power fc what sensors does it use\support\output??:

tps , cold start, idle valve , air con , factory thermo fan , air temp , knock sensors, map sensors, fault diagnostic's ??

-in Brisbane who is a recommended tuner to get good reliable power and smooth running daily driven car???

PS ill have a power fc for sale soon haha
