What would be the best material for one to be made from do you guys think would work best? 3ish mm thick Aluminum sheet, Carbon fibre, Fibreglass or something different all together? If someone can pm me there mobile number to host a picture or 2 for me to sort of explain what I'm after that'd be awesome. As I only have Internet on the iPhone and no laptop currently.

What sort of material do you think would be best 89CAL?

Thanks Josh.

Alloy sheet for sure, itll take some bumps that way and not get damaged easily, ive been wanting to do this for a while...

I reckon one sheet will do almost back to the cat

Yeah I've been wanting to do this for a while also. What mm thivkness alloy sheet would be most suited? Needs to be strong enough to withstand flex, knocks and jolts ect. So maybe 2mm thick? I'm not really sure! How were you guys thinking of sercuring it to underneath the car? I've also heard of troubles fitting them with heavy duty swaybars eg. Whiteline 27mm adj front sway, anyone heard of this? As well as a large capacity sump. I don't currently have a big sump but will be getting one in the near future. Also how far out would be ideal for it to extrude out past the front bumper?

Once fitted and done properly what are the main gains to be had from the splitter undertray? Just give better stability and helps remove the air caught in around the engine bay which helps with better radiator cooling ect as far as I'm aware?

Thought this thread would have got more attention.

Cheers Josh

??? Honestly thought this would have gained more interest or atleast some pictures of some different idea's. So others planning to make one can get some ideas ect. Oh well. I also thought a company would be making these.

Bringing back this old underrated thread. I am also interested in this and would appreciate any info on how to make one, what material, how to fasten it etc. I am not looking to do a complete flat bottom undertray, just a splitter similar to what Richo did here http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/428535-richos-r33-gtst/page-6

Would I need any drawing/design software or is it something that can be drawn/mocked up and cut at home with grinder etc?

Let me know what you all think

Cheers

Amir

I used cardboard sheeting to get the shape right and then used composite aluminium signboard. That stuff is more rigid than ally, and cuts easily with a circular saw. Undertray only, currently no forward projection to make it a splitter.

Pics can be found in my thread in motorsports builds.

Mounting takes a bit of creative thinking and used a few aluminium tabs and nut-serts to make it work. But it can be done by someone prepared to take the time.
