Hi Guys

So recently my car has started making a ticking noise under boost. When I rev it neutral or just idling, its all good but when there's load on the engine(under boost) the ticking becomes louder.

Is this a symptom of the common cracked exhaust manifold stud on the 33 or something more ominous like the turbo failing?

No classic signs of turbo failure like white smoke or whistling sounds.

Car also pulls as hard as ever , no effect on performance.

Thanks in advance

il add that im running an hdi electronic boost controller..

which hasnt worked for about 6 weeks(gauge only goes up to 1psi when it clearly is boosting more then that.my controller does nothing either ...turning the knobs neither increase nor decrease boost.

A ticking noise under boost generally means a flapping gasket (either busted manifold stud or lose bolt). Simple to look for. Check all the manifold studs are still intact.

I'd also be looking for the cause of boost controller issue.

Usually an exhaust leak will be more pronounced when the engine is cold, and be audible under most conditions. The duty cycle solenoid, however, points to the root cause of both of the aforementioned problems.

I would say busted gasket that sits between turbo and manifold. You should be able to pinpoint the source of the noise pretty easily.

possibly.ive also noticed i can really hear the exhaust from the engine(like a motorcycle ).definitely something going on there

padens having a look on the 26th.will stay of boost until then
