I've tried to convince her to do rest and rehab before...the best I could get was her doing light weights and slowly building up again...which isn't always bad but relies a lot on the lifter to judge if they are doing more harm than good based on their body's feedback.

leesh you need to sort that back out. Shouldn't mean you do nothing but, you need to bring it up to spec. so you can move forward with gains and ensure you don't end up with a chronic injury.

Should be OK to keep the intensity up for workouts(so you enjoy something) just need to blank out some of the movements that load up the muscles causing spasms (allow them to release).then retrain the balance between the hip and back etc.

How do you go with 'good mornings' with this injury? Eventually you may want to get back into those to train the back into a strong position. Initially it might not be a good idea till things are settled.

There are some hip mobility tests, also some movements to gethings right again. I'm sure there are some YouTube vids , will have a look for you.

At the end of the day I hope you can look forward to pain free and stronger future. without missing out on a good workout in the mean time (even if its a different workout from today)

Yes I know I need to sort my back out, it's just expensive. The physio helped; did dry needling and taping but it's $75 a visit.

I blanked out deadlifts as soon as I was injured, haven't done them for six months. I can do good mornings with an empty bar okay. I was doing good mornings when I was first injured at my previous gym, as they were recommended to me.

I hope I can look forward to a pain free and stronger future too. Things like putting my shoes on in the morning and getting into the car are extremely difficult and overall affects my way of life.

The reason why I haven't stopped gym is because it's one of the few things I have left. I gave up all the things I enjoyed back home, my job that I loved, and my family and friends to move to Victoria. I've also recently been through the worst experience of my life, which has led to depression amongst other things, all whilst being away from home. So yes whilst I'm in a lot of pain, going to the gym is one of the only things at the moment that makes me feel less shit about myself and my life right now.

without getting to involved as I don't know your situation. Hope you get it all sorted soon and are taking the appropriate measures/steps to a better brighter future

Thanks, apparently I am... just doesn't feel like it right now. I feel like everything I knew about myself has been taken away from me.

You must have some guns now Leesh that's pretty heavy curling bro :)

Guns are a lot easier to develop on a male I feel :( I'd love to have that bicep muscle separation but my arm is the same size from the shoulder to elbow, not sure what else I should be doing to develop the definition there. My lats are looking better lately though which is good considering I can't deadlift.

Great back development Leesh,looking good!

You have tricep development there for sure, no small feat. Guns arent easy to develop, ask the mass of gym-bros who don't have big guns but, try hard for years....

Guns are actually not about curls or isolation work. Bigger arms go in proportion to other muscle growth and size. See heaps of people train biceps, go nowhere. Your other compound stuff does the job and its keeping it all proportional.

Having said that doing the curls at those weights ,you know you have some decent muscles there. Can't move the iron without it :)

Great job!

The humorous thing is that she was curling what the underdeveloped guys nearby were...I felt like telling them to put some 20s on their barbells and pick them up off the floor, but I think Leesh out-curling them a couple metres away was enough to make them reevaluate or at least assume she was on the gear...

We rarely do biceps in isolation. Pullups and deads (when she can do them) do most of the work for us. But while she's off the back stuff, it's not bad to keep things activated and isolation does do a small amount for growth even if it's limited by the rest of the body's muscle.

Focus right now is on increasing those pull-up numbers, keeping the squats out of back hurting territory, getting her bench up to 60kg and repairing the back so we can slowly reintroduce back rows and deads.

I do hope the pic above is an example of what I mean when I say a female's view on self image should often be taken with a grain of salt. There are teenage girls who would kill to look like that IMO.

I did say in my earlier post that my lats are looking better. The only part of my body that I'm not happy with at the moment is my abs. I'm carrying a bit too much excess fat around my stomach, and I know there are some reasons as to why this is. The fact that I do zero cardio may also be contributing.

There may be teenage girls who want to look like I do.... They should consistently eat a lot of food, with limited fats, then eat more, then eat a bit more, consume around 150g of protein a day and lift heavy weights ;)

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps
    • Does anyone run this kit with factory plenum? Does the adapter and bosch tb fit under factory strut brace? I wanted to get this setup before going forward facing manifold. Thanks
    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
