Hey, I had a look at a R32 GTR at Edward Lee's today, Seems pretty good. My only concern is that Edward Lee's haven't got a good rep. So I was seeing if anyone has dealed with them recently?

Most of the bad rep seems to be coming from 2006. I have had a look at quite a few R32 gtr's and R33 gtr's and this is the first that doesnt look like it has been flogged underneath.

Hmmmmmm.

Well, lets just say, they purchased a MPIII R34 gtr from Japan a few months ago. Had 154000 km's on the clock. There is a thread about this, search "Beware R34gtr"

Car is now being sold by Ed Lee's......... with 61000 km's.....

Take everything they say with a grain of salt.

I actually had a look at that one, and it does look quite respectable however I highly doubt the mileage is genuine.

You can try asking to see the auction sheet.

Are you talking about the silver one? If so, we are on the same page.. It deffiently doesnt have genuine milage. I dont no wether to dismiss the bad rep to possible get a decent car.. I mightsee if I can get the auction papers.

Make sure you keep an eye out for any photoshopping of the auction/dereg papers...

make sure they are genuine originals etc.

I've dealt with prestige, chef AND edward lees many moons ago. The Type X 180 I got from edward lees was beautiful but that was around 10 years ago. No issues whatsoever with prestige which was again ages ago and chef has been great this year. I would suggest steering clear of any place (ie edward less) that is in the practice of rolling back the kms.

anyone have the history for this Midnight Purple R34 V Spechttp://youtu.be/-PPn-KBS78E

Must've been a good reason why other sellers weren't able to source one for this bloke.

Fingers crossed that this young guy is one of the lucky ones and that that particular GTR is legit. I wouldn't bet on it though!

First up, the "Prestige Imports" that guy mentions is not us. Secondly, while there are not many purple R34 GTR's, there would have been something like 20 choices over the last 18 months through auction in Japan. He claims to have "looked everywhere" but some good choices have been available in Japan during this time. Based on Edward Lees promotional info online, any good broker would have access to the same vehicle sources. When it comes down to it, the most important thing is to choose someone to assist you that you trust to:

1) Describe the vehicle accurately

2) Invoice you for the actual price

3) Handle the import process efficiently

Without knowing any details about the vehicle (year, model, kms, chassis code, condition, price etc.) it's not possible to make much meaningful comment about it. There are not many purple ones -- 3 have gone through the major auctions in the last 3 months, here they are:

Looked nice, would have been about $63,200 complied, plus tyres and ORC's. But sold only a couple of days ago in Japan so it wasn't that one.

Repaired example that sold on negotiation on 20 June, so final price is not available. We'd avoid a car like this for SEVS import but others would happily import it, particularly if they were doing their own compliance.

Sold back on 27 July, pics and auction sheet no longer available. Would have been about $52,200 complied.

If you're interested, the last 186 sold results can be viewed at: http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/pages/historic_data.php?search_id=63191-431-18-91144-18

Just a general comment -- it's one thing for a customer to be happy when they first collect their vehicle all polished up and shiny and they're excited after waiting so long, another thing entirely for them to remain happy 3 to 6 months later. So while these reviews are interesting, they need to be taken in context.

That poor bloke, there is a massive thread about that car in the general automotive section, there is solid proof of the kms being wound back and a few other things were discovered about that car

    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
    • Did this ever go further ? Would love some updated info
