Yeah so... I don't quite own a skyline but the Nissan I own shares a lot of R33 GTR parts.

It's a 1988 Z31 300zx wide body

Converted to a VH45DE infinity V8

GT35 xr6 turbo

Link standalone

R33 GTR brakes

GTR 5 speed

N200 long nose 3.7 LSD diff

GTR bucket seats

Tube & fin IC

Runs on 6 pound of boost and creates approx 420rhp and the car only weighs around 1100kg

It's a pretty hairy ride.

Plans - Motor

Moving up to 550cc E85 compatible injectors

Custom fuel tank & app e85 compatable pump

Increasing the spark (havnt settled on how yet)

Custom log manifold

Possibly twin turboing...

Other loose ends

Move the fuse box and relays into the cabin

Shave the engine bay

Look into running 355/332 brake upgrade and bias valve

Pics to come

welcome to the forum mate, keen to see some pics and more info on the car

as mick said 555cc will be on the low side for corn fuel! better of going 1000cc straight out and u never have to worry. Saying that on 420hp already you could easily throw another 10psi into that motor and make plenty on pump gas as it is

Sounds like an awesome build. What are your plans with the car? Track or street?

As everyone else has said, got straight to 1000cc injectors. 550's will be too small if you plan to take it further.

Hurry up with the pics!

Cheers for the comments.

Car will be used mainly for track. I'd like to stick to pump but I'm worried about pinging and it's comp being 10.1:1 blowing a ring. I havnt been able to find someone or a build with a vh45 going more than 10-12psi so that's why I was leaning to e85.

And yeah wot doesn't Take long before I'm at the servo again lol

The 550cc's are enough for 600, currently I'm on 380's an only 91% duty cycle and without sequential injection (I think that's the right term...)

I simply can't fit 1000's in there... Clearance is an issue to the inlet manifold.

If I do go TT ill be making a ffim where I'll have all the room in the world but for now I'll max out what's there.

I'll see how it holds up on 10-12psi on 100 ron, then look into e85.

600-650 is the plan, anything more simply wont get to the ground.

Also looking into 18x10 18x11.5 rims.

Thanks guys. I'll try uploading a pic of it on boost.

It does sound nice!

Thanks Luke GTR, I don't know how that didn't come up when I searched it... Even on nico forum there isn't any details. Anyway I'll be buying them, now I have to find a set of better coil packs.

Then I should be able to use what I have to easily 5-550rhp :D

Um yes lol

Starter motor relocated to the other side and bell housing welded back up, adapter plate made, custom shifter, ditched the transfer case and made new mounts.

I can't take and not taking credit for the build, my mate built the car and I bought it off him.

First ever car I've bought not built... But it's been done extremely well.

Anyone know of a better coil pack that fits a 45?

And also will there be another bbk group buy???

    • Convert to dual filament bulb   FWIW, it will look odd - I dare say a bit dumb as it looks like your flasher relay has shit the bed.
    • If the RB20 box in the car is a push clutch, then yes, you will need to deal with the pull clutch on the turbo box. You either buy a pull clutch and don't use the old one, or you do the things needed to convert the turbo box's clutch arrangement over to push. Which is a bit of a f**karound. "Making" a custom tailshaft is the easy part. But you will need to source the front clip yoke - the bit that goes into the output of the gearbox. These are not as easy to find. They are out there, but they don't grow on trees the way that they used to.
    • Indicator bulbs are way too bright to use as a "corner marker" (we call them parking lights too). Sure. Go ahead and do it. But realise that you wil need to come up with all your own wiring to do it, as no-one will have a standard howto worked out for Skylines. It's just a matter of abandoning everything that Nissan have done and starting from scratch. You'd probably be better off retrofitting tailght/brakelight globe bases into the front indicator housings and using the taillight circuit for your corner marker and the brake light as the indicator. You'd need to work out how to kill the marker circuit while the indicator is flashing, otherwise it won't flash on-off, just bright-less bright.
    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
