hey everyone i've spent a decent amount of time looking around and deciding on a car. I was going for an r33 but i had the issue of size, being a larger guy so ive decided on an r34. Im only going to be on my p's so i need a non turbo and would love to know if anyone knows of places i can get one for around 6-9k which i know can be done from what i have seen but am really interested in a coupe model im from melbourne so if anyone knows anything please let me know where they are!
i am happy to import if need be provided it keeps with in my price range.

It's not worth going through the import process for a non-turbo r34. Anything short of a very good condition GT-R (there's plenty here too), you'd be better sourcing locally.

6-9k is going to be a BIG stretch though mate. From what I've seen, you're probably looking at 9-12k. 9k will almost certainly be an auto that's not going to be in top condition as well. I'd keep saving to be honest. Like with all skylines; any money you save by buying the cheapest car in the short term is going to cost you a lot more down the track.

Edit: Also, it's not a fine science.....finding these cars. The two best places to look will be here or on another classifieds website. We don't keep a secret list for those who ask.

well going through what ive seen localy there are quite a few in the 12k mark i know that much but if you take the time to really go through it ive found a fair few that are sitting at the range im after, Again going thorugh that list drop down the trash boxes that the young teens think is the way to treat the car. but these sit around 156xxxks so idk ill check it out but thanks for the advice matey actually much apreciated.

I'd also almost ignore the odometer reading on all Skylines, they're never going to be legitimate kilometres on the car from new. They're a guide at best. The best use of an odometer reading is to get the best history on the car that you can. I own an R32 GT-R that was imported with (a probably false) 76,000km in 2009 and I bought it last year. It sits at 120,000km now and I had a full file of receipts and history from 76,000km when it came into the country until now. That's worth something.

Good luck with it all. Be patient, do your research and you'll find something you want.

    • KYBs are typically twin tube, putting them in the lower tier of desireability. Do you just want to replace worn out ones for the lowest cost? I mean, you wouldn't just replace one end of a car, if the rears are a similar age to the fronts, then they are probably nowhere near what they should be, and likely won't be great against brand new fronts. So, to spend ~$800 on 2nd tier dampers, when you could get a decent set of MCA coilovers for <$4k.....? As to the strut tops. 1st up, the Sparesbox site specifically tells you that they are not correct for an R33. Beyond that, why do you think you need them?

    • Bringing an old thread back to life Looking to put some new front shocks in the r33Gtst and the KYB still look ok for a road car. Unless there are any other options aroind that price $200 a shock?  I’d like to replace the strut tops also, is this the correct KYB no. For the strut top, KSM7124?  https://www.sparesbox.com.au/products/kyb-strut-top-mount-ksm7124?srsltid=AfmBOoq-HDru8wSlLnQrhU9gCw_uYdKg8gUQzONY-EQOdnI5iXOWEUjY 341287 appears to be the front KYB shocks part no.  thanks all
