Massively better. If for no other reason than you don't have to have a separate tank, pump, controller, worry about WM running out, etc etc etc.

The problem with water methanol is that it is a parasitic loss in the engine. You spray a lot of water in because that's where the cooling comes from, but it isn't fuel and it has to be heated up to exhaust temperature. That's an energy cost. The cooling in E85 is from a large chunk of alcohol, which both offers good cooling and is also a fuel. So there is a much smaller parasitic load along for the ride (there is a little compared to straight petrol in that there is more water in the exhaust gases of alcohol, which does have to be heated to exhaust temperature, but the effect is not as bad as with WMI).

on a R33 motor right? don't the ringlands let go? I know R34 RB25DET NEOs are built as well as tanks

yeah, ringlands are fine provided the tune and engine it self is sound, one engine made high 400's but my testicles were far to small and we stopped pushing.
