I just hate anyone talking about skiing and boarding with my back. So there. I hates youse alls.

This sounds like it is going to be great and I may come for a cruise up Friday for a look but no racing just yet. Still have crap rear pads that keep stuffing up the brake balance and racebrakes won't call me back. I did meet a guy on the weekend spent $1K on front pads for his GTR33 (greenstuff).

Ferni, check the pad remaining. At least half is good (about 4 mm) and always a good idea to bleed a couple of days before but if you have never replaced the fuid now is a good time. Takes about an hour.

So who is coming tomorrow night?

I have some chains from my old car, if you have a 4wd/awd vehicle you generally won't need to fit them, i've never seen it up there when they have asked 4wd's to fit chains, only 2wd...

so i can bring them if i come...

if i don't drive to the snow from where ever we are staying, will our cars be safe where they are left on saturday?

Yeah if you have chains bring them for sure! May save $50!

As for the cars being safe - well thats a call for you guys to make really. I know personally if I had my GTR I'd rather leave it at the Motel in Wangaratta for the day than drive it up to Mt Hotham and leave it in the public carpark up there.

Very excited about going to Hotham for the day though! 118cm currently with snow forecast all week. The whole mountain is open.

So awesome. Shame Im so damn unfit and that I'll be completely knackered after 20mins! lol

Well considering i have titanium in my wrist and back form a big'n a few years ago, and this will be my first attempt at skiing since the accident...oh did i mention i had an acco last week at work which means my back and wrist are playing up little

.... all i can say is that the Saturday skiiing is going to require plenty of alcohol and courage  ...

I would of though cars would be safe at the car parks at the mountains.. not exactly a place someone goes to thief is it?

Looks like it's ment to snow a bit on saturday as well.. not always the best to ride in snow here in au mountains... hmmm, i'm such a whining bitch aren't i?

Does anyone know hotham well? What kind of skill level do you guys have on board/ski's?

hahah on the snow i'm not fussed you can try to do whatever you want to me - i've had lots of expeince with newbies trying to pull me down (snowboard instructor)

on the track, i'm the newbie, and i'll be driving like a granny, be nice

Why did you buy a GTR mate?

Driving in the snow is easy, just requires patience and a firm handle on the car.

Car parks at the snow can be a prime location for thieves so leave nothing of value in view.

Hotham is mostly steep, and their easy runs would be blues or blacks at Buller which is possibly my best choice for beginners or folk with little experience. Army ski championships in 2002 were at Hotham and it was so icy in snake gully that the frontrunner (a chick who races pro in europe) fell 3 times before the 5th gate in the slalom. Just to get to the easy slopes can take you through tough runs.

And if troy skis with his physical limitations I reckon leave him there when he breaks again, and drop his car off here

They have the technology they can rebuild me ;) ... the cars yours provided you cremate me and pour my ashes into a 80mm shell and shoot me off into a firing range somewhere...want to go out with a BANG!

Ferni - my snowboarding skills suck ass. Basically I was an old dog trying to learn a new trick but I stick with it anyways.... but at a very sedate pace.

From memory you kick ass. A bunch of my mates who are good at boarding and go up to hotham a few times a year for the last 15 years will be there and can show you all the awesome back country area's if you like. I'll be catching up with them on Sat for lunch probably. Last time I went up I went out back with them, kinda got lost, got stuck in the tree's in waste deep powder and thought I was going to die! LOL. Took me 4hrs to dig myself out back onto the track. So I'll be buggered if Im going back there in a hurry. But there are some decent runs in the main section. The top of the summit all the way down to the botom of the village takes about 20 mins (if unlike me you dont stop for a breather!)

skylinegeoff - haha i know how to drive in snow, done it plenty of times, here and in the usa - nutters over there dont slow down, they just keep doing 90mph!!

what i meant was riding in conditions where it is snowing isn't the best here in au, not driving

Snowman: i know what you mean about getting stuck in powder, happened to me plenty of times, its scarey when your by yourself, trying to dig yourself out of something that feels hopless hahah :(

Sounds good if i can get my feet back under me then i'd be keen to ride with whoever can show me the crazy stuff

Thats right, snowboarders being the Way Kool shredders they are ride a board even though they are strapped to it. Don't mind the board but prefer to ski. Good one though. Sucked me right into thinking you were a snow NOOB and got my ass owned.

We rarely get snow here, it's more...ummm...very light hail that instantly turns to ice rink :(

Damn, I wish I could make it along.

I need to have a cry so this is where Im going to do it.

Spoke to the guy in charge of getting my parts for my gearbox before as he's been away the last few days. I asked for an update and he told me he got the parts last friday and so the guy fixing it should have recieved them. Coolies indeed - was thinking Id have it for this weekend afterall.

So I gave the gearbox repairer a call to find out how it was going. Turns out one of the parts I have been waiting for from Japan is wrong. They sent the same part twice not 2 different parts.

UNFARKING BELIEVABLE!!!!!!

:gaga:

Snowie that is a tough blow. I learned today that on top of GTR33 box being compatible with GTR34, it also is that same 'box as the 33 GTS25t just different gear ratios inside. How cheap is a GTS 33 box? 600-700

Better give the scoobi a whipping then.

Its not a straight swap. There's issues with diff mounting etc etc. I looked into it and its a very expensive exercise just for a temperary measure. But its what I'll do if my gearbox isnt ready for the Dutton as I wont have a choice.

Im so pissed right now.
