Hey all, im trying to get a good oil pump system figured out and id like to have some input on the setup I would like to run.

I want to keep it a wet sump system with a modified stock sump. I would be using a moroso external oil pump to scavenge oil from the sump and pump it into a surge tank that has an overflow back to the sump. Then pump the oil from the surge tank through an oil cooler and back into the block at the point where the stock pump discharges its oil. Then the oil would travel as stock to the oil filter and then to the engine.

2 questions:

1: Would it be better to weld fittings to the bottom of the sump and scavenge oil from them. Possibly add a screen for large debris? Or would it be better to tap into the stock oil pickup somehow?

2: The above would require a 2stage pump but I was wondering if I could use a 3stage and use the 2nd scavenge section to pull oil from the back of the head? This would aid in removing oil from the head but im wondering what would happen at idle when there is barely any oil to scavenge here, would this run this scavenge section dry and cause damage to the pump? Or would it be better to run the 2nd scavenge to a high area of the crankcase and basically just create a vacuum in the crankcase?
