What Are The Floorboards In The Boot Made Of In The M35? Oil Spill…

Does anyone know what the wooden gas strut assisted floor boards in the boot are made of in the M35? Is it chip board or something a bit tougher?

I managed to spill a 5L bottle of engine oil all though the back of my car (I don’t understand why they can’t just use a decent lid on those things!) and I’m trying to get it all out and not sure whether I can blast it with a pressure hose and detergent (or any water for that matter) or if I need to try and keep it as dry as possible?

Also any suggestions for cleaning it out without doing much damage would be GREATLY appreciated (I am currently testing the “kitty litter method” which appears to be doing fairly well)

try using 5 star brand spray on degreaser, it has caustic soda in it that will get rid of most oil/grease stains, if you cant clean the floorboards you maybe able to cut/fabricate your new ones?

C34 is a plastic type material - should be able to use soapy water etc no problem if you take them out of the car.

NM35 is mdf, so as long as you don't fully drown it you might be ok.
