XKLABA
there is no way they made there way into the head passed the restrictors so what ever they are they started in the head, or where left in the head when being built there is nothing I can think of that goes in the head that that could be, even a broken spring would be roundish, but check any way but id say that is your problem, pull pump apart and make sure here is nothing in it and wash all the oil lines Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429382-spun-rod-bearing-in-fully-built-rb30/page/4/#findComment-6974843 Share on other sites

Ramius83
What about the oil pump or rear main oil seal dowels? Are those intact or still there? Could have been something left in the block before you/RIPS got it and came loose while running...... XKLABA
+1, id also like that car , good to see its coming back together like said before the only way it could get into the head is if it started there, the other piece could have easily gone down the back oil drain into the sump, if nothing is out of place in the head then there is the chance it has falling/left in there during the first build Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429382-spun-rod-bearing-in-fully-built-rb30/page/4/#findComment-6975146 Share on other sites
r33_racer
Very nice car mate. Makes me want to build one! Pain in the arse timing the cams with almost no room to get a dial indicator to stay sitting on the cam follower accurately hey? ZT-R
I welded up a tip that fits down on the bucket and fits between the cam lobe and the cam tower. Takes a little bit to get everything setup perfect. Just got the shed right before all this happened, otherwise i would be under my car port. ZT-R
Quick question guys, I have tial watercooled wastegates, so i was gonna go ahead and plumb them. Can I use this line pictured? I did the GT mod so and just have this capped off. its at the rear of the engine on the intake side. It would be much easier than teeing into the turbo water supply. Shoota_77
I can't quite make out where that line comes from but if it was set up to flow coolant then no reason why not. What is the "GT mod"? As in GT turbo? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429382-spun-rod-bearing-in-fully-built-rb30/page/4/#findComment-6979893 Share on other sites
ZT-R
No thats that cooling mod with the swirl tank tapped into the intake manifold. After reading more than i care to read it looks like that would be more of a return port rather than a supply. So I am going to tee into the 6an water supply for the turbo and reduce down to a 4 and daisy chain the waste gates, then weld a bung onto the upper radiator hose neck rather than weld a bung on the radiator, makes one less connection when you have to pull the motor. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429382-spun-rod-bearing-in-fully-built-rb30/page/4/#findComment-6981575 Share on other sites
DR3AMN
I love it when you post pics. That motor is incredibly sexy and does that turbo suck in small children as you drive by?? 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429382-spun-rod-bearing-in-fully-built-rb30/page/4/#findComment-6982081 Share on other sites
ZT-R
Hmmm, maybe that's why we have been having so many amber alerts. (missing children alerts, if you guys dont have those over in auzzie land). ZT-R
Drove it home today. So much quieter engine now. Triple plate carbonetic is hella quieter than the twin disk too. wooot. Well I am pooped. Not to bad of an install time. 20 mins for the motor, an hour for the trans ( yeah r34 trans in a 240z with fuel lines in the tunnel is a bitch), wiring 20 mins. Turbo stuff, 30 mins. piping 20 mins (yea tight fit for 2 pipes haha), mid pipe and exhaust, 20 mins, 10 trips to the faucet for water 1 liter at a time...30 mins... All in all, 4 beers and a monster. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/429382-spun-rod-bearing-in-fully-built-rb30/page/4/#findComment-6985942 Share on other sites
