Mmm each to their own, I didn't drain back to sump as I'm on e85 but some do, it's up to you but if normal fuel it's probably a good idea

You would actually find that a breathing system is more important on a engine that runs E85. The fumes from E85 actually contain moisture and if your breathing systems isn't correctly set up it will mix with the oil. I don't run a drain from the back of my head but ive got a line going from the rear turbo drain back up too my catch can equalizing the crank case pressure.

I think that's why he's saying he doesn't drain it back to the sump (oil/water contamination). Not that it doesn't need the venting system.

which head drain kit has the shallowest profile

i know they may not be needed but for a few hundred bucks, it not like a massive investment either way

for a rb2630 if that makes any difference

I think Spools new drain is thinner then the old one
