Rb20E Running Like Crap But Idles Fine?

I have an a31 cefiro with an rb20e engine in it.

It idles perfectly fine but when driving it will cut out/backfire around 2500-3000 revs but will go past that with light throttle. I initally suspected AFM so i replaced that but to no avail.

I am now thinking distributor cap or throttle position sensor, but as it idles fine and revs with no hesitation i am not sure.

Any ideas?

Checked your coil packs and spark plugs man? Had the same issue with my rb25de sometimes it went good the other days miss and splatter, turned out all my plugs and 3 of my coil packs were shotty

CAS perhaps? Tried another dizzy (I know, pretty hard to find). Replace the CAS anyway, the bearings are probably stuffed (open the dizzy up and have a look).

I have a similar problem in my cefi and it turns out it is that compression is low in the last two cylinders. Try a compression test and see how that is.
