More questions!

What colours do the PM/PNM35s come in? So far I have seen wine red, light silver, black and white.

Is it possible to get one without the integrated stereo dash piece? I intend on just running a dual din head unit later so if I can avoid it I will.

Someone has mentioned that there is a difference in the AWD system between the NM and the PM. Is there someewhere I can read up on this? (have searched)

Is the beige interior in the majority of the PMs? Seems like 95% of them have a brown interior whether it is leather or not. Ugly!

Any other suggestions or things I should look for?

You may find this to be very informative for specs and colours:

Someone else can speak for the AWD differences between the two models but I believe it's basically NM35 = hydraulic engagement of front shaft and PNM35 = electronic engagement.

It's similar to the G35x system. I believe the system is called ATTESA ET-S http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATTESA#ATTESA_E-TS as Hertz mentioned it has a different way of engaging.

The ones I mainly see have the same type of interior as PNmad's. Just plain cloth seats, black/grey. You should be able to score one without the integrated stereo, just gotta look for the ones with panasonic head units in them. correzza?

What has been said about the AWD is correct. It uses an electromagnet to actuate the transfer case, rather than high pressure fluid of the previous models. Means the pumps don't fk out, and you can pull a fuse to turn it rwd.

Interiors vary, there are one beige which is horrible, the Axis had some tan/almost orange kind of leather, the other Axis a two tone black grey leather, and then there is black cloth.

Guilty!! xD, they actually half leather, suede for the pattern part and black leather with red stitching round the edges because fasts. Oh and the interiors have different options, electric and manual with/out airbags the styles differ from each other depending what option the car has (I believe this is the same for normal stagea). MANUAL FOR WINZ.

The normal Axis which has the orange/tan leather kinda grows on you when you see it in person.

I swore I'd never buy a beige interior ever again. That will include oompa lumpa skin orange leather.

Yeah, I know yours is part suede, but didn't get it across. There is also an axis with the over fenders, while yours doesn't have them.

Options just seem to be potluck in these cars.

Axis has the over fenders and orange leather interior

Axis S (which Matt has) does not have over fenders and has the nice semi-leather interior

    • Just got the car back and gave it a good run back home Power wise, whilst it only made a extra 5 killerwasps up top at 7200 rpm, it made more power everywhere from 2500 rpm and kept pulling much harder all the way, to the point of me relearning when to shift so I don't hit the 7200 limiter, with the old intake it seemed to take alot more time to rev out, and, throttle response is also much improved  As I didn't want to remove the bumper every time I serviced the air filter (basically every aftermarket and fabricated CAI has the filter behind the bumper) it currently has a hektic exposed pod in the engine bay sucking in hot air, this will be rectified shortly after some some of my CAD (cardboard assisted design) for a alloy heat shield feed by the OEM intake tube behind the bumper, this will cop some wrinkle black paint, as well as the intake pipe for that totally OEM look... The only fly in the ointment was that the OEM "strut" brace doesn't fit over the rear runner of the new intake with the 2.5 engine is in the engine bay, as the 2.5 raises the engine up by 20mm, it's not a war stopper, and I didn't notice any difference without it in some twisties, but....... MX5 Mania is bringing in some GWR "fancy pants" braces that apparently do fit, if it bolts up I'll grab it, it is also stiffer than the OEM one, which is a bonus All in all I'm happy with the outcome      Fancy pants "strut" brace that gives the required clearance      This is where the clearance issue was, the GWR extends out past this
