Which state? it is not considered a restricted vehicle in Qld, because it comes in under the Qld 210KW figure.

I think NSW has a 200KW limit, which will make it P plate restricted.

It is categorised exactly the same as 350Zs, which i am pretty sure are not P plate legal in any state. So of course you shouldn't get one on your P's - you WILL get caught and I am very sure a hefty fine, possible court appearance and definite loss of license would be the result..

I think it is stupid that an inexperienced P-plater can drive a car that has 199kw and it is legal .... learn to drive in a 100kw cheap car, then buy a decent car once you have some skill, knowledge and are not going to kill yourself or others.

Yeah, when I was a P-plater I used to think I knew it all too. Good luck to you. One day you will grow up.

I have always maintained that if the govt really had any interest in driver safety and lowering the road toll, instead of cameras to catch you 1km over the speed limit and limiting what sort of car you drive, how about you make track-based driver training COMPULSORY, and people get tested in simulated real world situations reproduced on the track. I guarantee you that 50%+ of people would not pass without significant retraining. It would make the roads a MUCH safer place.

The first driver training track day I attended run by the John Bowe school I was simply amazed at how little I actually knew how to drive, and how quickly my skills significantly improved.

nightcrawler. Such a stereotypical thing to say. Not all P platers dont know how to drive. I don't need to 'learn to drive' in anything. All these older guys who think theyre such good drivers, makes me lol

Look, you might have been racing karts since you we're 11 and be the state champion, but in reality you probably are not. Probably never driven on a track before. Your just the same as everyone else.

You have poor risk judgement skills. Not a personal attack, but its proven that guys don't develop them until later.

Take our advice. Buy a shitbox that is cheap to run, and when you stack it, you won't cry into your car loan papers. Corolla, lazer, 323, lancer etc.

This type of thread really makes me weep for the future.

Restrictions are put in place for a reason. It's worth thinking about why that is, rather than trying to find a way around it.

Nightcrawler has a good point -it's very easy to forget how much we don't know. At a young age, under 21, our brains just aren't developed enough to comprehend the risks that we take. That's why we have the phrase "young and stupid". We were all that way once -some of us still are. :-)

After you've been driving for long enough, you'll be thankful for these restrictions that are in place.

Also, if you know as much about driving as your previous post suggested, then I'm sure you'll know why other P-players shouldn't be driving this type of car.

Good luck with your decision!

not sure what you guys are even talking about, does it matter if im driving a camry or a skyline...if your speeding your speeding, obviously its got a load more power, but im not even worried about the speed or anything, it just looks nice, if the 300gt looked like that for sure i would go for that and not worried about anything, but the behind of the 300gt is just ugly imo. I want a good looking car that will last me a while.

so stupid seeing as its only 6kw over the limit

I guess that is why they call it a limit! like saying 'so stupid seeing as your BAC was only .06 over the limit'??

206kw or 506kw.. they are over 200kw and therefore aren't p plate legal in NSW.

Buy something you can drive now.. and in 3 years time, you might pick up a V36 for similar $$

my big issue is you can learn to drive and do your license test in a 20 year old 50kw 2dr hatch, then buy a 3ton 4WD and tow a caravan on the highway.. That scares me more than a p-plate driver in a 199kw car.

Seriously mate people have told you that its not legal in NSW to drive a 350GT coupe on your p-plates. But you threass very similar and all i have to say is this.

If you buy one drive it and get caught, you have no one to blame but yourself. Dont come winging your way to us or blame us for not warning you.

The p-plate laws have stated that the VQ35DE in rwd form is classed as a "high performance" vehicle and is there for banned. That includes 350Z, 350GT in V35 sedan, coupe and in V36.

also, just say you got the car... ever thought about insurance?? feel like paying $3,000/year for insurance? aswell as the ~$600 in rego every year? also thought about the fuel to run it? these things dont usually like to run on the woolies 91 crap. how are you going to run and maintain the car when your only what? 17?18? on junior wadges.

and say something on the car fails and needs replacing.. CD changer for example. ever think about these things?

just get a shitbox, drive that untill your a better driver, have more experience behind the wheel. THEN get something like a V35
