Just to add I had a similar problem and found out I had reconnected my boost controller solenoid the wrong way round... Exhibited the same behavior.

The silicons sound better than stock but Scotty's Sound the Best.

Depends, most of them suck shut, I ended up hacking my silicon one (on my old car) and squeezed in an alloy pipe. There are a few on the market that have metal rings to resist it deforming (which I assume is better than the one I got before)

Yeah I have an Autobahn88 silicon with the wire rings.

You can see it would potentially be better but never as good as metal.

Mine was the one with wire rings. Still was a price of crap and sucked shut.
