i am sorry if i sound negetive but this is ridiculous!

i rent 2 dedicated server - costing me 290 USD each per month, with unlimited data on them and 120 GB hardrives each. I used to run a webhostiung business along with my partner whom now runs http://www.rack911.com) and what you mention here is just not viable!

You cannot offer unlimited space - I could easily fill your server with 100+ GB per hour VIA remote wget from linux platform or good ol' 'FXP' from one of my servers....

Since both of my servers are 100mbit raw lines, I often achieve 10+meg/sec transfer to and from the servers and 12meg/sec constant to my backup server (only 40GB HD - critical backups).

And here you are selling 'unlimited' for 79 bucks....

I don't mean to tell anyone to stear clear - but there's a old saying - " If something sounds too good to be true - it probably is"

This in no way is a personal attack on you mate, but i don't want to see people lose their hard earned cash.

Also what do you offer for this money?

cpanel?

php

asp

mysql

????????

dedicated IP's?

subdomain or domain hosting - domain forwarding or parking?

how often do you kernal update (if linux) and get system updated by trained professionals?

what speed are they? where is the server located? whom does the server's connection use for a carrier (as some of the US carriers LAG badly at certain times)

Anyone these days can rent a dedicated server and call themselves a company - but let me tell you mate things will go down very fast if not setup right - and in a year to come will you still be here?

1500/512 ? sounds like someone is making up ADSL plans... telstra don't offer those line speeds, they offer 1500/256 or 512/512...

other providers might offer you different, but never heard of one offering 1500/512 :)

1500/512 unlimted business grade with telstra for 180bucks? never heard / seen it.. telstra are out to rip you off, no way they would offer a plan like that...

as for the hosting, good luck with it, but if you're trying to make money, i don't think you have much chance..., but good luck anyway

omg, your hsoting this thing from a ADSL account

thats is abcolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!

what do you think you get a system - add some hardrives then install apache!!!!

i think for the benefit for every user of SAU this thread should be locked now - this is a ridiculous offer....

you start hosting 2 sites and your poor customers sites would crawl.....

ffs mate, go do some research

gatty no offence taken, thanks for setting it straght Amaru,

Listen Gatty, iam not here to steal peoples money or to charge them and run off with a pissy 79.00 dollars. i told every on on this thread if they honestly interested in an account, iam more than happy to give them a 30 day trial, no credit cards no nothing plain and simple.

Once again iam not here to steal $79.00 of these people, iam here to try and help out some people by offering them hosting services. for a good price.

and if you think my services are shit, well then keep it to your self unless you try them.

both Dr-Drift and meggala have bought some space off me and dr-drift has put on more than afew gig of videos and his site and is running quite fast and download speeds are very high.

The difference hear is that iam offering these people alot of space and alot of bandwidth, for a very cheap price yes. Why should i charge so much for it.

anways i will stop here

any one who is genuwinly interested please let me know and i will set you up a 30 day account

hay dude are you serious about testing it, and telling me what you think, i dont want you bagging me to the forums, just coz it might not meet your optimum speed if you think it does etc.

anyway just let me know and i will give you a subdomain i created for you to test it

i just pissed of with people bagging me for a service they havnt used.

u know wat i mean

ok, set me up an acount now, and i will try it out and speed test - if it's of high standard i shall eat my words so to speak :P

i just don't want anyone to be burned by a dodgey deal

can yo provide a plesk interface? domain/subdomain management? and last but not least, apache/php/unix/mysql? I'm setting up japimports.info (registered domain, yet to be hosted/delegated whatever its called). Currently looking at hosting it with aussiehosts, nice simple, been usin em for years. I'm not a high volume user, but uptime is of utmost importance. PranK's offeredf me some hosting too on this server but i'm yet to follow up on that.

and wasn't meggala hosted by ph1? speaking of ph1, where tha *** did he dissapear to?

Oh and from a moderators point of view, this thread is in the wrong section. Should be in the wasteland not general auto... nothing to do with cars. If you have a donation to make towards SAU on each sale, then your post will be stickied.

I suggest a better way is to make up a banner and put the banner on the forum as an ad and pay for advertising (everyone wins).

We can include ya in the SAU VIC member sponsor list if ya want, catch me on msn and we can discuss.

weird - i got a email with a reply from dragons but now it is gone....

Here is the message that has just been posted:

i wont bag it out mate if it's a serious thing, I don't have high standards - just what any host should be. SHould have low latency to surrounding area's etc, and be atleast burstable 100bit line - especially if our going to host some sites that are going to have a few people viewing at once...

but i'll check it out ;)

Dude, 512kb upstream??? That's not a host, that's a fricken cable/adsl connection ;):D

I'm talking 100Mb Ethernet (12.5 megaBYTES) bandwidth connected to major pipes like Verizon or Time Warner... *THAT'S* a webhost.

What's a 512kb upstream going to do when you have 500 requests per second? :) "Hooray!!! I'm downloading at 0.65kb/sec!!!" :)

Ah, my bad. Thought you were talking about personal/SME hosting... I'll shut up then! :)

    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
