Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me is the vin / chassis number ONLY located on the firewall in a BNR34?

I have a 2002 S15 and it is stamped on the radiator support panel as well. My GTR has it clearly stamped on the firewall and nowhere else im jus thinking hope it wasnt involved in a front end prang even though it all looks perfect and was inspected buy an RACV mechanic but doub't the dude would have picked that up if it had of been?

Cheers :)

Also planning on building a 3 litre bottom end for it - For those who have done this have you restamped the new block with your orignal numbers? or just left the ones on new block on there? Cbf with hassles from the jacks if i get pulled over and they start to break balls :verymad:

I've only ever seen it on the firewall, factory 30 engine number, unless they know what to look for they can't really tell it's a 30

look at a high deck kit and use the factory 26 block, I have nearly finished a RB2630 build in my 34 and am looking at pulling it out and doing a high deck setup for clearance reasons

ah sweet i just thought whats the chances i get pulled over and vic police start checking engine numbers? ive had gtr's, xr6 turbo's 200's and never had any issues with them going that far. what you want for the bottom end? why the clearance issue? i thought 26/30's were a popular build

i'm going to finish this one then build the high deck over time using the factory block

i'm using the platinum sump adapter which is 1/2" thick leaving 5-6mm between sump and cross member and no possible way of using bottom gearbox bolts

i lowered the cross member 8mm, used RB25 piston shaving block down to 0 deck height and cant fit standard strut brace without washers lifting it up to clear twin turbo pipe and had to space bonnet up to clear catch can that sits on top of engine

they are i'm just anal about how things fit and go back together and as I use this car for track use these are thing I want to be spot on so I know when I go full on through a corner I don't have in the back of my mind some thing that might go wrong

don't muck around, if you want a 30 bottom end contact RIPS, I did all the spanner work on my one myself and I reckon I saved maybe $2000 from the quote I was given from them, but the messing around wasn't worth it

then drop your head on it and enjoy
