suwidji
hey all, trying to install my fmic. I have ONE nut left to take off, to take the reo off. It's the one that you don't need to completely loosen because it's a slide one, and it's on the drivers side. I've spammed with wd40 and been trying for the past 30mins >.<' bloody frustrating and i need to get it off, cos i need to leave the house in a few hours for uni lol. Anyone know of any way to loosen it up easy?? My socket won't fully reach the nut because of the protruding threads. when i chuck on my extension on the socket, it's even worse cos the extension piece goes into the socket piece more. Ben C34
This forum is awesome. The is no trick to get a nut undone without the correct tools. how could there be? Obviously you need to buy the correct tool to do the job! StevenCJR31
if the nut is frozen with rust then wd40 wont always get it off, IF YOU CAN then gently heat the nut up with a small gas torch until the nut glows red, then it should be able to be undone obviously check there is nothing flammable in the area Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430218-reo-nut-wont-budge-grrr/#findComment-6969179 Share on other sites
phatlavish
Could try heating the nut up with a butane torch if you have one.. failing that I think ya should get a deep socket or else you risk rounding the nut, then you could be really stuck - they are only about $6 or so from supercheap + a $15 cheap breaker bar, or stick a pipe over your ratchet handle to get more leverage Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430218-reo-nut-wont-budge-grrr/#findComment-6969219 Share on other sites

GTScotT
Buy a 6 point deep socket and use a breaker bar Yep. Single hex deep socket. Make sure you have it on DEAD STRAIGHT and use your wank arm with plenty of leverage to crack it off. suwidji
haha thanks all. The head got stripped and i was stuck. the other side came off heaps easier with just a normal socket. the reo was literally hanging on that 1 bolt. My mate came over with a breaker bar and deep socket, but it was too late.. SO, did some very dangerous angle grinding lol... anyways, all fitted now with a lot of blood spilled and cursing to the days!! john, no way i couldve drivven anywhere. no intercooler and car was in pieces! haha Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430218-reo-nut-wont-budge-grrr/#findComment-6972465 Share on other sites
