The Greddy one DOES have a thermostat?...

SPECIFICATIONS:

Application: Engine Side

Type: E (Standard Oil Cooler, Non-Relocation Type, Internal Thermostat)

Union: AN8, AN10, AN12

Center Bolt: 3/4x16UNF, M20xP1.5

A DIY cooler set up will cost less than or around $400.

$140 for Greddy Sandwich plate

$150-180 for 19 row Mocal cooler (I bought Mocal because its said that every cooler has been tested to hold 180psi before leaving factory)

$10 x 4 -10AN fittings from Torques UK

3m of black nylon braided hoses

The Greddy thermostat opens up fully at 80 degrees and I think slightly open before that. It is also been tried and tested by many and proven to be very good lol

Wow, do you realise how much easier you just made my life!?

Not sure about RB26, but for a RB25, i bought the 3/4x16UNF and seems to be able to run my exisiting oil filter.

and what's the general consensus on push lock fittings and hoses. some say they pop off and spill oil, kill motors blah blah blah.

i'm less for the blingy braided line and don't mind me some good ol rubber hose.

i would also use worm clamps to secure the ends if that makes any difference.

I suppose that's an alternative..I actually find using the speedflow fittings a little more daunting though cos I can't see how tight the hose actually is on the barb

Next project is to protect the back of the core from rocks from the front tyre.... And THEN try work out some ducting to get it some airflow as we ran it nice and high to keep it out of harms way.... I wanted to locate some of the vents that Andrew has in the front of his standard GTT bar but no luck so far! Looks like an aftermarket foglight surround or something but would be good as a small duct for airflow!

Mine works well.

Sitting on the freeway it's 70 water, 70 oil. Even after a flogging oil only gets up to 80 something.

Highest I have seen is about 105 after a 15 min track session.

Needs better ducting. But it's all tractor related, so I won't go into details.

Another tip. Run the black conduit over the top of braided lines to stop any rubbing on other parts.

If you want to run gauges make sure you order the adapters for them (Where the blanking plugs are in the image on my thread)

Surely someone else out there is using a GREX plate with adapters in it to run to gauges?!

Any info on what thread sizes and adapter types would be awesome!

Why not mount it behind intercooler and in front of radiator? that way the grill between bonnet and front bar can give you airflow, yet protected?

Nah, there isnt much room there once the A/C fan setup goes back in.... I am going to run a Pwr Str cooler too so gotta find a location for it too!

The ones i used were 1/8npt or something like that! They look like the gold plugs with a sensor thread in them!

Greddy have them on the shelf and they are cheap!

It has always been recommended to me by the hose suppliers that with the 400 series barb fittings a secondary clamp (such as the cobra clamps that are designed specifically for these types of fittings) is used, on any hose that will see over 40psi or temps over 60 degrees. They are supposed to cope without one, but if there is any movement in the lines, it can lead to them becoming loose.

Keeping receipts for your car, great for warranty, not so great when you have to look at the dollar figures at the bottom of them :P

Yep i run one for pressure and temp! Work well so far :)

    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .

    • 100% accurate!  We are a pack of know it alls....  But, I bet people go to you when they have a problem! I've been on a bit of a clean up rampage too over the past month!  I've thrown more shit in the bin over the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 3 years combined!     • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
