Cold Start 2 Second 'grind'

Edit: Title says cold start, its all the time.. wont let me edit..

Took all the belts off and it still happens, replaced the belts, still happened.


My guess is the starter motor not returning. anyone have any experience / guess as to what it might be?

Starter motor. Think the bush for the drive gear has to be lubricated. Theres a thread about it somewhere. Search for starter motor in tutorial/DIY section

Definitely starter motor, I've found lubing the shaft actually causes clutch dust to accumulate, and promotes this issue. Happy to be proven wrong.

I never saw any evidence that mine had ever had lube on it originally.

Contact cleaner, and flush out all the shite; then leave it dry.

I have this exact problem, my car also doesnt always start, could this be becasue the starter isn't always returning ???

Good chance the solenoid is stuffed or the gear is jammed on the shaft. Drop it and make sure everything moves freely, then test the throw out solenoid.
