Downshift - 25 Sun - Rocklea Meet

Recommended Posts

I posed the question to one of our member's today - when was the last time one of our guys got defected? 1 in 18-24 months?

Yeah... well i guess it depends on where you drive, how you drive and what you drive...

I could say i havent been defected yet, but when you weigh up the fact the car has done 5000km in 12mths and mostly highway to the dyno its not a good example for stats!

A number of our guys use their cars as daily drivers. But what you say is also true. How you drive it is a massive factor.

Also what you choose in terms of mods i guess, if you have a noisy exhaust and BOV along with an uncovered pod, you are a direct target.... If its quiet, plumbed back and covered you stand a greater chance i guess, choose your mods wisely!

Exactly. It's not necessary to have a loud car. #@Cadmoon 's intake is ludicrously loud yet he doesn't get much attention.

It was part of my choice to change from the epic whistle machine back to the HTA, all the power and response increase was a bonus though :P

You generally don't need loud obnoxious parts to get a good amount of power on the streets. Speaking of which, what are you doing up here?

I need to change my blow off valve back to a stock one, I wound it tighter the other day and potentially where I have been getting boost drop from up high. Currently a HKS SSQ, wound it tighter and got .5psi more on the gauge.

Nothing illegal about unboxed pods up here though as ling as secured. Most aftermarket BOV's sound like crap anyway and it's not always the exhaust volume it can just be how hard you've got the iron boot to the floor.

NSW has to have boxed pods from memory. We're a little luckier up here. Even then, Mike has his boxed like a boss and it really wasn't that difficult to do.

Yep its one of their pet hates!

Mine is boxed in even with the 4in intake pipe!

In my experience they are not overly keen to go you for exhaust noise. They always mention it when I get pulled over but the actual process of taking an accurate noise reading is a pain in the ass so they don't.

Errr well in NSW they just give you an EPA notice and it doesnt matter if its stock or a sidepipe you still have to go through the time and effort to prove its legal! We got done in a diesal landcruiser so dont think they wont.... AND what is worse is that ours was just a report from an officer we apparently drove past, didnt get pulled over or warned, just got farked over by the EPA when the letter arrived!

So no matter what state you are in, keep it quiet or you will get done!

That isn't how it works in QLD, and I was simply relating my experience in QLD.

Don't have EPA here. :) No testing sites.
