Alright so ive got a ticking noise.. i know a bit about engines but mainly older carbed ones.

Local mechanic doesnt know what it is and ill probably be taking it to nissan next week.

Thing is that it only happens sometimes, sometimes i will drive for an hour and the noise wont be there, but sometimes it is.

i THINK the idle speed is different when its ticking to when its not ticking.. i havent really tested that so not 100% positive.

It happens around 1500rpm when im stationary and when i rev it a bit harder or not that hard it doesnt make the sound.

Main reason im confused is that it only happens sometimes.

Anyway here is the video

my mate got a heap of work done to his v35 (was in workshop for about 6 months without getting driven) after he picked it up and drove it he had a ticking noise coming from the motor constantly. during idle and acceleration.

i have heard people say it comes from the "lifters" due to not having much oil in the engine.

not sure if that's true or not but after he did a service the oil looked like shit and the ticking noise stopped.

i'll watch video tonight when i get home but i daresay it's probably something similar, go and check your oil levels
