Hi all,

My car is suffering from a terrible case of squeaky drivers seat. I know this is an issue that quite a few people suffer from, but does anyone know how to fix it??

Anyone have a good picture filled DIY for how to pull the seat apart to get to the problem areas?

Cheers.

I fix this sort of stuff quiet often, but dont have any pictures

Most of the time it is just caused by the foam rubbing on the metal frame so glue some felt in their to stop it

It can also be caused by a few other things like a crack in the frame, so each seat really just needs to be pulled apart to find out where the problem is

That's my issue, how do i get the seat apart? 2 screws on the trim at the front of the seat, but then what? I couldn't work out how to get that trim off without breaking it, which is something i have a tenancy to do unfortunately.

The noise is down next to where the seat belt clips in, so left hip as your sitting in the drivers seat.

It's definitely the seat base, judging from the movements that will cause the noise.

I can gets photos up tomorrow, but it is a standard unit on a70th anniversary model, so cream leather with the seat heaters.

  • 1 month later...

Mine was squeaking in the same area (near the seat belt clip) right before the metal lifter bracket snapped. Managed to dismantle the seat, remove the bracket and had it welded up with a some extra metal plates for strength.

Now that it is all back together again, I have no more squeaks.

    • This is what I could find on Minkara which has at least something on pretty much anything to do with the Japanese car industry. It had all HVAC including A/C still fitted (A/C condenser and radiator were moved to the boot) and it ran a 9.7 sec quarter mile. Somewhat of a legend among GT-R and drag enthusiasts then and now. If you're wondering if it was a reputable shop, then yes it was.
    • Are you guys familiar with this shop? Sounds like you might have come across Fujii?

    • Hey guys I’m looking to buy an r32 gtr and it looks like the shop who’s done some work on the motor was done at Fujii Dynamic in Japan. Looking to find if anyone is familiar with this shop since there not much info I could find.    All I could find was the owner has passed away early 2000s and had previously owned a 1000hp r33 for drag racing.
    • GTR front looks good. If you don't like it, I'll swap you a rolling shell R33 for it. Give you a fresh base to start with.
