patrb25det
Hey, I am planning a project to put an rb25det into a patrol. I was thinking of going down the road of buying a complete half cut and use the computer and everything in the patrol. I know this can be done with R33's and all (RB25det's), but I was wondering whether a stagea half cut would also be ok to use. Firstly I would be just using an RB30 manual gearbox. But would the ecu still work fine as most stagea's use AWD. And is there any other problems that anyone could possibly see with the swap, or suggestions. Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430983-rb25det-conversion-questions/ Share on other sites
Ben C34
Well don't get an awd stagea half cut as the sumps are different, and not many rwd stageas around. Ben C34
Anyway, why not look on patrol forums. You would then get much more specific info. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430983-rb25det-conversion-questions/#findComment-6992467 Share on other sites

Thanks Just use the patrol rb30 sump pickup and engine mounts etc. it will be easier to use a non stagea motor but you can convert it. I have done a few different conversions like this and you will be better off using an aftermarket ecu now as you will be looking for more power very soon after you get it going Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430983-rb25det-conversion-questions/#findComment-6992897 Share on other sites
XRATED
As stated above, you will have to cut the awd sump down/remove the front diff and drive shaft etc. The stagea motors are usually less thrashed. If you do go for a stagea front cut, get a s2 neo rb25det... otherwise just buy a rwd rb25det. If your going to keep it reasonably stock, again the neo is the motor of choice, has slightly biger turbo and will make more power/torque standard. You can also get a nistune board for the neo ecu. This will give you programing ability. If you have any ideas about going for more than stock power anywhere in the future, just buy a long motor and go aftermarket ecu. A front cut is your best bet. Rb30 gearbox will bolt up to any rb. J. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/430983-rb25det-conversion-questions/#findComment-6992919 Share on other sites
