Yeah,

I saw it - Too highly modified for my liking - Plus is was a 94 -- I'm after a 96. I get nervous when looking at a real highly modified car - Compliance, RTA, etc - Might cost an arm and a leg to get through these processes.

Plus, (sorry to all those who like white, BUT white is last on my list !! ) I know 60% of skylines are white, but I heaps prefer Silver or Black, even Gunmetal!

It's up to personal preference really - I would never knock a white skyline - cause after all, it is a skyline !!!!

If someone realiable and trustworthy were to tell me that that white '94 would (guaranteed) get thu Compliance, RTA etc without spending extra $$$, I might have gon for it (if it were Silver) -

Anyway, it was a farkin nice car !!

Cheers,

BF

You'd probrably be better off getting a nice stock one with lowish kays... coz if it's modified - most of the time it's been thrashed hard.... which is why most modified cars coming over here from japan are cheaper than u'd expect.

Brendan, it would cost you no more than having a 96' spec 2 complied. Most of the modifications to meet ADR's are standard for specific makes, and therefor the cost is the same.

Although it did have quite a few aftermarket items, this can be taken care of in a few hours before you go for your blue slip and third tier inspection ..... it's only the visable items they'll pick up on, hey I managed to hide my turbo timer and boost controller which live in my ash tray, just by putting the front cover of the ash tray back on with some blue tac !

Things like gauges you can take off, BOV's you can tighten, POD's (mine didn't get picked up ?), hide any wiring for aftermarket items behind the dash, borrow a set of swap rims off a nice person in the forums and your set to go .....

Jim, Ryan,

I see both your points - each has it's pro's and con's - Having thought about it some more, I don't want/need to have heaps of mods - I don't plan breaking the world speed record - I just want a nice clean skyline that looks good, goed good and sounds good. So I think something in the middle of a stocker and a majorly modified car.

If I can pick up something that has a few mods - like wheels, suspension , zorst, pod, BOV - Then I don't have to pay for that stuff when I get it over - Cause I know I will end up modding it anyway !!

    • You shouldn't need to massively fatten up the mixtures for cold conditions. For one thing - 0°C is not that cold. For another, the Haltech will be using the IAT sensor to tell it how dense the air air, and calculate the correct amount of fuelling. Then the cold start enrichment is added as a % on top of that, so it should scale with the main fuelling. You might also doubt the IAT sensor at this time. You're not using one from an RB26 are you? Using a nice Bosch sensor or similar? Happens. Some wideband units take great pleasure in killing their sensors. Put another wideband in the tailpipe and compare. Or just swap the sensor to a brand new one and see.
    • Oh, my misunderstand. When the car was running, it sounded ok, but if I gave it any gas it wanted to die but caught itself afterwards. It's very different from how it was a couple months ago when it was warmer outside. The logs show that the AFRs are better during, what I assume, is warmup enrichment. Because it's cold, and air is more dense, should I work on the enrichment bit?
    • yess of course im not using 2nd hand parts from my spare engine, but the place where i live is hard to find parts for the RB20DET ,but for the RB20E is everywhere including new ones and a lot cheaper ,because for the RB20DET you have to order it overseas to get one and it cost a lot of money 3x the price to be exact. so i ask this topic because if i can use the new ones but for RB20E is it compatible or not. if not im screwed haha, not totally screwed but i have to save a lot of money first before i can begin repairing my engine, thanks for the information before.
    • Unless my sensor just died, was only a couple months old, I strongly believe it didn't. How can I test it? I never mentioned it being 20:1+?
    • Well, you wouldn't use 2nd hand bearings out of another engine anyway....so just buying the proper bearings is obviously what you're going to do. The crankshaft would be common. The conrods might be common. There is essentially nothing else you would be able to use.
